  • Great little guitar for the price!

As reviewed by Todd on 3/4/2008

I have played guitar for over 25 years and owned every style of guitar under the sun. Tried one of these out and was pretty amazed. It has the same good quality of a regular sized squier. Plays nice, and sound damn amazing! Obviously with any new guitar in needs a set up and I think that is the problem most folks starting out do not know and are the cause of their problems. Bottom line if you are a beginer or a full time player, this guitar plays and sounds as good as any full sized squier stratocaster. Perfect for little ones to start on and not become frustrated and great for us grown ups to jam on when something small is needed. Qudos to Fender and Squier for another great product and a void filled.

  • Decent For Smaller People

As reviewed by Justin Shelton on 6/22/2011

I bought this guitar for my 8 year old nephew because he wanted to learn how to play guitar, and he wanted a guitar to match mine (a Fender American Standard Strat). So, I saved a little bit and got this and a Fender Frontman 15G practice amp for him. The guitar sounds pretty good unplugged, it has a nice natural resonance, plug it up and the pickups sound decent, the pickup selector works ok, and the tone controls are decent. It is a little heavy for a mini guitar, but overall, it is perfect for a child. There are some bad points, though. The stock strings are horrible, I would reccomend getting some d'Addario or Ernie Ball strings. The 6th fret can move out of place and bend, causing your high E to get caught if you bend too far downward. But, all in all, it is perfect for a beginner.

  • Not great....... But great price!

As reviewed by LazBro123 on 4/26/2011

I bought my eight year old cousin this guitar as his first electric guitar. When we unpacked the guitar out of the box, the neck was bowed like crazy! No dents or scratches, just a bowed neck. The strings that the guitar comes with are horrible! I played the guitar for about 30 minutes and the G string broke in half. The strings buzz, especially the low E string. Pick-ups are OKAY, but better than I expected for the price. I played this in a Roland Cube 15x and the sound is pretty muddy, especially on distortion. Even if there are certain flaws, still, this guitar is a steal for a beginner guitarist. That's why value is a 5. When the guitarist plays for a couple of years, or maybe even less, it will be time to get a better guitar. This is not an intermediate or advanced guitar. If your an intermediate guitarist, you'll have to get a better guitar than this, UNLESS you're traveling and need a small guitar. Overall, great price, not so great quality.
