  • Great little guitar for the price!

As reviewed by Todd on 3/4/2008

I have played guitar for over 25 years and owned every style of guitar under the sun. Tried one of these out and was pretty amazed. It has the same good quality of a regular sized squier. Plays nice, and sound damn amazing! Obviously with any new guitar in needs a set up and I think that is the problem most folks starting out do not know and are the cause of their problems. Bottom line if you are a beginer or a full time player, this guitar plays and sounds as good as any full sized squier stratocaster. Perfect for little ones to start on and not become frustrated and great for us grown ups to jam on when something small is needed. Qudos to Fender and Squier for another great product and a void filled.

  • Perfect fit with great price point!

As reviewed by Lester Gainey on 2/5/2013

I have a small framed 14 year old Son looking to step up to an Electric Guitar- Went to Guitar Center in Jax-FL and found this one in red, and it is laid out very Similar to my Strats so this worked out good for teaching purposes, The neck is straight and narrow for smaller hands with a truss rod [a must have] and the Body is surprisingly well made too- No fret noise, or lousy pickup ground noise issues either. My son loves his Squire Mini, the 3/4 scale is perfect without sacrificing intonation. I am glad they use a top load fixed bride with adjustable intonators/bridge height as this provides for a more intermediate level of ear and technique discipline. For $99 bucks you can't go wrong with the Squire Mini, I have heard complaints about the tuners, but all one needs to do is open them up, tighten the brass head gear and put a little violin dope inside for stability [luthier trick], there is not enough neck tension to worry about higher gear ratio tuning machines- I am 100% satisfied with the instrument and so is my son. He had a blast patching in to the Studio Rig and producing monster sounds from something he can play comfortably. The Action is great too for such a small instrument, I have to admit "dad" enjoyed playing it too :)

  • You have to buy one

As reviewed by G Goldberg on 9/13/2012

I bought this for myself to get a shorter length scale. I expected a decent guitar but still pretty much a toy. For the money, or even 4 or 5 times the money, this is crazy good. I changed the strings to 10s for a better sound but that is all. I thought I would have to change a lot of things. Intonation is right one. I had planned on changing pickups but see no reason to. The only thing I will change will be the tuning machines. I like split top Kluson tuners and I am sure they will be smoother to operate. A few screw holes are stripped but a few toothpicks and some white glue fixes that. Honestly, I found more serious things wrong with my Deluxe American made Strat when new then with this. Remember one thing, it is not just a shorter scale, but a neck that is just over 1 1/2" at the nut. It will be a light weight go to guitar to pick up, take anyplace, and not care a lot about what you do to it.
