A signature model designed by a bonafide Tele freak!

John 5 takes the Telecaster places no one else has gone before, and the Squier J5 Telecaster Electric Guitar is a double-bound beauty based on the frequently modified workhorse of a Telecaster guitar pieced together for him by the folks at the Fender Custom Shop. The Squire J5 guitar has John 5's distinctive black and chrome look-an alder body finished in gloss black, 22-fret maple neck with a rosewood fingerboard and black painted headstock, a striking polished stainless steel pickguard, and chrome hardware. The guitar's custom-designed humbucking pickups are operated via a unique dual volume set up with the bridge pickup control in the front position and the neck pickup in the back position. John 5 prefers this setup as he spends a majority of time giving the bridge pickup a workout. Using rapid movement of the 3-way toggle between positions, you can get that signature "kill" effect by turning off the neck pickup volume and leaving the bridge control full up.

  • just plain love it!

As reviewed by Kevin on 8/29/2011

ok,out of the 8 guitars i own, this one stays in tune the best and was pretty much set up perfectly from the factory.the pickups are suited for pretty much any style of music you play.the pics of this guitar in no way show how beautiful this instrument truly is.John5 is proud of how this guitar copy came out and now i see giving it 5 stars but i do have one issue with it and that is the pickup selector switch is faulty, sometimes the neck pickup wont turn on unless i wiggle the selector switch around, minor issue but should be noted.i will have it looked at by a tech as soon as i can bare to part with it for a few days.i have 7 other very nice/very expensive guitars but this one is by far my favorite.TYVM John5 and Squire for creating an inexpensive guitar that doesnt suck.

  • great guitar!

As reviewed by ty erickson on 11/30/2011

This guitar is a great one. The neck is just the right size and thickness for my hands. I have small hands as well, so it should be perfect for anyone. I changed the stock pickups to Seymour Duncans. Much better. But other than that, nothing had to be changed. John 5 is one of my favorite guitar players and i don't think he would've wanted a crappy guitar with his name on it. So he didn't. Its amazing for a Squier. Its also very well balanced. The neck doesn't want to pull down while playing and standing at all. Its perfect. I adore this guitar. Take care of it, and it will last you a very long time.

  • amazing!!!

As reviewed by bcFilm on 5/23/2009

typically i wont pick up squiers because i dont like them. if im going to play a strat or tele its gotta be a fender. once i learned that squier had released a john 5 signature telecaster, i had to try it out because john 5 is amazing and i love telecasters. from the first strum, my opinion on squier changed. this guitar is amazing. not only do you get a good deep humbucking sound, but you also get the quality of a fender without the price. this guitar will probably last you your entire life with some tlc and trust me, your gonna want to keep it that long.
