  • Yes, I'm a Tone Snob, but This is a Great Pickup at Any Price

As reviewed by Daniel on 6/6/2010

For the money, this is the best Tele pickup out there. This pickup is a single coil Tele pick, made somewhere oversees in a factory, so it's not 'quite' as good as a nice handmade US pickup with AlNiCo magnets, but it's a phenominal Tele pickup that makes a GREAT sound. This has all the twang, character and clarity that you expect from a Tele. If you're a player on a budget, you'll be hard pressed to better for this price--even if you're considering a used pickup. I know--cause I looked and finally settled on this pickup after reading review of the Squier Fat Tele. This is a great sounding pickup at any price!

  • Amazing pickup for dirt cheap!

As reviewed by robert banyaga on 4/22/2014

I wasn't expecting to like this as much as I do! I basically got it for free with a GC gift certificate, so I thought what do I have to lose? In an Esquire set up had replaced a Squier Affinity bridge pu with a GFS Alnico 3 Vintage pu, that was an improvement but it still lacked bottom. I got this and it reads like 3.8k on the multi-meter ( the gfs pu read 7.2k) so I almost didn't even want to bother pulling the bridge! I'm glad I did! Strangely enough this pu is really full on the bottom and has decent output! I have the pu about 1/8" from the strings and it really has GREAT bite AND twang. Played clean thru a Fender FM65, it sounds very Paisley! On low drive it sound great with the Eldred Esquire position! I know that it's nowhere near Roy's Nancy, but I don't even think his bridge pu registered an resistance rating. Anyway, for this cheap prepare to be thrilled. If you have a Squier or MIM Tele do yourself a favor and put one of these in before you spend more on pu's than your guitar is worth!
