NEW REVIEW - awesome for the $

You can't beat his bass for the money .I have wanted a 5 string for years . This bass kicks for the money. Sounds great through my recording equiptment. Sounds great live . So much tone , easy play. No fret buzz as others have said . I was very pleased .And I got it delivered. Very impressed .

Great Bass!!

Awesome bass. Let me start out by saying that i've tryed and played anything from cheapies to pedullas. I bought this bass for my main 5 string bass because when i tried it out, i loved it. It looks like a bass that would cost at least 2 to 3 times the amount. I have big meat hooks and it is tough for me to play finger style on smaller basses. So i like the wide spacing at the bridge and at the nut. The ebonal frettboard is nice and tight. The pick ups sound amazing, the brightest i've heard. The active electronics and slap switch allow for such a wide tonal range. If set up properly you can get the action nice and low with the bass, very similar to the pedulla. It is very comforatble to play. Now the bad news. Watch out for the quality control. I recieved the bass and the stack was in the wrong control hole. And the 1st two pots, when you moved them they made a grinding noise over the amp.I unscrewed the back cover plate and readjusted the circuit board wich was jammed in there pushing against the pots causing the noise. I had to drill out the proper size hole for the stack in the proper position. Despite the normal lightness of basswood, The bass weighs alot, probably double what my schecter custom 5 weighs, and a good 2 lbs over my heavy swamp ash j-bass. Other than that, the bass Rocks. Just wish they made a frettless. An all around plus from me. Good luck.

Great Bass

I've had this bass for about two weeks and I love it!! I've been playing for about 30 years and have 9 other basses and this one rates right up there with the most expensive ones I own. The neck is fantastic and the action is great. the electronics are awsome and sounds wonderful on my recordings. don't let the squier name deter you, this is a very well built bass and you won't be disappointed.

What an awesome bass this is!

I have had this bass for about 2 weeks now and am amazed by it's versatility. I have played 2 live stage shows and the variance in tones available from this bass are nothing short of fantastic. Great low end, solid mids and a popping high. I have previously used only Fender® P basses and don't know why I never tried a Jazz bass before, but this bad boy out performs all the Fender® instruments I have ever used. Seriously, whether a beginner or a seasoned pro, this instrument will give you any sound you desire. Don't be fooled by the Squier® name, it is simply a great bass by any standard. I just finished a studio session and had to run to the computer to write this review. The quality sound I got in the studio blows me away. When I needed silence, this baby delivered. When I needed quiet but deep tones, same thing. During the louder rocking sections this bass held up perfectly. If you are considering which bass to buy, look no further. This bass delivers, period!
