      Squier Cyclone Electric Guitar (H77032)
Availability:

It's the guitar you've been wanting, for a price that's easy. Now with more finish options.

It’s a value priced version of one of Fender’s newest designs. Like the Fender version, it offers the best of both worlds: a combination of classic design and modern features. With a 24-3/4" scale length, a small, contoured body, vintage-style tremolo, and a single coil/humbucker pickup configuration, this is a great instrument for any player or musical style. Alder body. Maple neck with rosewood fingerboard. Medium jumbo frets.

Squier Cyclone Electric Guitar Features:

  • Alder body
    Maple neck
    24-3/4" scale
    Rosewood fingerboard
    22 medium-jumbo frets
    Single-coil neck pickup
    Humbucker bridge pickup
    Master tone, master volume
    3-way pickup switch
    Synchronized tremolo

  • Can't beat the price

As reviewed by Mark Hunter on 12/29/2011

First off, this is a really well built and balanced guitar. The Tremolo isn't the typical cheap Squier part, it's as solid as the MIM. The fret board out of the box felt good, with a few minor adjustments felt great. The pickups are also decent, with no major complaints. The knobs are classy, the finish is top-notch, machine heads need replaced as usual with any squier. Second, the sound was equally surprising, the tone knobs actually change the tone, and the volume knob works great with any tube amp. Solid sound all around. Overall, I'm very impressed with this guitar. I work on hundreds of Squiers a year, and haven't owned one myself until the cyclone.

  • absolutely killer

As reviewed by Alex Rosenthal on 10/2/2012

So......... somewhat embarrassing but after a billion years playing the guitar, I just learned the importance of the scale of the fretboard. For any beginners, this is important info!!! I am 5'7" and have small hands and short fingers (and NO that doesnt mean anything else!! lol). For years, I've played strat type guitars. Eventually got a PRS. Recently played a Les Paul (yes, I had played one many times before but never was really paying attention to fretboard scale - I had no clue there was a difference between manufacturers - I thought just the contour and radius of the neck were different.) Anyway, I recently went to GC in atlanta where I always go and told Justin my new realization and desire to explore different scale lengths. He plopped a Les Paul JR. in my hands with what is evidently known as a 60's slim taper neck. OMG! my hands loved that!! Off I went investigating scale lengths. Fender makes a few models with shorter scale lengths but the majority of their guitars by far have 25.5" scale length. This cyclone guitar is a 24.75" scale length which is more like Gibson Les Pauls. So, if you have a smaller hand, just the neck alone will feel a billion times better. The contour of the neck is excellent too - not too flat like a shredder but just right. Everything else about this guitar absolutely kicks ass. I am actually stunned at what you get for the price. I got the black one and although am not a huge fan of black guitars, this one is absolutely awesome. I figured I could return it if there was something I didnt like. (I DID have to sand the back of the neck with the super fine grit sanding sponge type of thing. took me about 170 seconds - seriously. I just lowered the action a bit too. All in all, I honestly dont see a reason to change anything at all. Everything else is fantastic. Build quality appears to be excellent. Some of the fret ends are a tad sharp but not enough to bother me yet, I will eventually file them down a smidge but a file kit will cost you under $10 (you should have one anyway). I ordered a blue one too cuz that color looks so awesome (back ordered and costs more than the other colors). Amazing bang for the buck. One more note for edumacation purposes. PRS guitars have a 25" scale length which is in between Gibson and most fenders (keeping in mind Fender makes a 24" scale - jaguar I think but most fenders are 25.5"). Anyway, The PRS feels great and was what I played on stage when I was playing pro. NOW I know why it was easier for me to play! DUHHHH..... seriously - played for decades and I never knew this - and not nearly as dumb as I look but nobody teaches you this stuff!! (I was more focused on amps and tubes and speakers and effects oh my) Ergo, the discussion of scale length in this review. Bottom line = how the HELL do they make this guitar for that price?

  • thin sounding

As reviewed by John Willison on 9/10/2012

ok this is a low cost guitar but it has good wood body good neck to start with . easy to upgrade I did replace the neck pickup with a hot rail 10k output fits in a single coil opening . put in 2 new pots 500k cts , new cap uf 047 pls new strings 9-44 flats . so it was very thin sounding with way to much high end , now great lows , very good mids and just right highs and who put them junk knobs on this thing replace them also , turner are ok . so put in about 50.00 into it and you got a way cool looking a great sounding guitar
