Classic vibe with modern refinements.

The Squier Classic Vibe Precision Bass '50s delivers a unique playing experience both in terms of sound and feel. This larger neck and wider string spacing (1.65") of the P Bass promote strong pocket playing with a warm, earthy tone that is supportive and inviting. And you can have the unique voice of the Squier Classic Vibe Bass in your electric bass arsenal at an amazing price.

The beautiful Lake Placid Blue finish over a basswood body is an eye catcher for sure, while its custom 'original' single coil Alnico V pickup delivers that old school, '50s P Bass tone. Open gear tuning machines sit atop a gloss 20-fret maple neck, both solid and stable. Modern refinements such as the flatter 9-1/2" radius and HiMass 4 saddle bridge make this bass more user friendly in terms of setup and playability. A winner with killer looks and a unique voice!

Classic Vibe!

Back in 1982, the very first Squier by Fender guitars and basses came ringing out of Asia. Known for their excellent vintage-quality look, feel, sound and construction, those early Squier instruments and their Fender branded counterparts are now highly sought-after collector's items revered by guitar enthusiasts as models of "getting it right" while aiming at value-conscious players. The Squier Classic Vibe Series reflects that simultaneous commitment to excellence, value and 'vibe'. Mirroring classic Fender designs, the Classic Vibe offering is not intended to be era or vintage correct — but rather imparting the 'vibe' of a classic Fender design. Each with distinctive feature set combinations — all adding up to one classic looking instrument. Great sound, vintage looks, unbeatable value —Classic Vibe!

  • Great Bass For The $$$

As reviewed by Tonybass on 10/18/2010

I just bought this bass after playing them in the music shops. This bass is as close to a Fender 50's P Bass as you will get.The single coil pickup is pretty decent and delivers the vintage sound that the Fender 50's P Bass did.I don't care for much for the thumbrest, that could have been left off.As for the color,I'm fine with that,I know that the original 51 P basses from that era were not Lake Placid Blue, but if this were in red, that would be my first choice. The neck and light body are just right for me as I've been a Fender man for years.

  • Surprisingly Fantastic

As reviewed by Tom Smith on 11/4/2011

I am blown away by the quality and sound of Squier's classic vibe bass. I picked up the natural finish model because to me it looks better and I love it. The natural finish one has a pine body (original wood used by Leo Fender back in the days...) and between the wood and the hi mass bridge on this baby it sings and sustains forever. The tone quality is great too. I've played the Fender 'Sting' models and even played japanese 51 precisions but in my opinion the pickup on this squier surpasses the more expensive fender models. This pick up sounds brighter, fuller whereas the other fender's sounded more like just a dull thud. I love the vintage tint maple neck-its finished great-no sharp fret ends...smooth and fast. A bargain kids!

  • Huge Bang for the Buck

As reviewed by Tom Smith on 10/24/2011

I recently picked one of these up and have played it on stage a few times. I'm impressed with a number of things. I got the pine body natural finish and love the look! The neck is smooth and fret ends are dressed very well-better in fact than what I have seen on other squiers and even other mexican fenders. I'd love to know who made their pickup-again blown away by the tone of the pickup for a squier. I've played a Japanese made P 51 and also the fender Sting 51 bass-both sounded muddy to me and yet here this little chinese made squier has a rich, cut thru the mix tone. I thought I would probably have to swap out the pickup but I think I'll keep it as is. Finally the high mass bridge is another nice feature. I think it helps with the tone on the guitar and sustain is definitely improved. I hold a note and this thing rings forever. Again-nice touch! I am not a big fan of squiers nor am I a big fan of chinese made guitars (i ususally turn around and run away...) But this squier vibe bass is just an incredible combination of strong components, nice wood & finish and attention to detail all at a killer price. fun...wow! :o)
