  • For Beginners ONLY.

As reviewed by Kelsey Obert on 9/15/2012

I bought this in Arctic White about 2 years ago after I got sick of playing on my Squier '51. Right away I had to make some simple fixes (new strings, lower the action, etc), but that was expected. The one thing I didn't expect was it's lack of ability to stay in tune. I can't get through a single jam session without tuning. And the trem bar is a JOKE. I don't even have mine on the guitar anymore. You barely touch it and it goes out of tune immediately. It's more for looks than anything. The one thing I can't complain about on this guitar is that the body is so tough. In the 2 years I've had it, there is not a single scratch. I would highly recommend this to a beginning guitarist for the following reasons: It's CHEAP. It plays much better than one would expect at this price. You won't find a guitar under $250 that will play better than this. I tried many guitars in that price range, and none played better than this (even though it doesn't play that well.. but it will be more than adequate for a beginning player). It's also tough enough that it can handle any beating you wanna give it. But this is strictly a beginning guitar. Intermediate players will find that their skills far surpass the abilities of this guitar, just like I did. I'm thinking about selling this soon, since I now have a Fender Telecaster and am getting a higher end Jackson Rhoads V next week. I might keep it around just for a backup. But that's about all it's good for anymore.

  • Not a great guitar, but does the job if you're a beginner

As reviewed by Andres Ceballos on 5/4/2014

I got this guitar about a year ago, and I used it to start learning how to play. It's a great guitar, and I learned all the basics on it. However, there are some problems, but that's to be expected. It has trouble staying in tune. The tremolo system is ok, but uncomfortable. The tone knobs don't do anything. The fretting looks a little unfinished. I do recommend this guitar to anyone who is interested in learning guitar, but can't afford something to pricey. I congratulate squier for there pretty decent workmanship.

i bought this guitar for a xmas present for myself and it is fantastic overall.the Jack of it was alittle messed up but i got it fixed for about 10 bucks. And its been perfect ever since! I also had a little problem with the nut(it was moving to the side when i would play) but i glue it in and its fine!! this guitar is better then my Epiphone SG faded.Ive had it for 3 years and its TOTALLY AMAZING and it looks the same as when i got it. A REALLY GREAT GUITAR!!!!
