  • Great for the price

I have been playing guitar on stage, at least once a week, for 20 years. I own three strats. Two are SSS, one is HSS. I have played this guitar. At first feel I noticed that the guitar is very light weight. It doesn't have that traditional strat feel. It feels solid but, too light for a veteran Strat player. Of course, it is a very low cost guitar. The fit and finish is very good for the price range. In fact, just a few short years ago you couldn't touch a guitar of this quality in this price range. The sound is really pretty good. I like the humbucker sound. But, it's a cheap humbucker sound. Not like even an Epiphone SG (which is very good for that price range). But, for the savings it's really, very good. If you're looking for a cheap, really decent strat, get this one. The humbuckers cut out the single coil noise, have better sustain, and for my money and taste, it's just a better setup. I really wish that Squier had spent a little more money and made a better guitar with this setup. Give it a more traditional strat feel, a better neck, better electronics and some rockin humbuckers and I will pay triple what this guitar cost. As nice as this little guitar is for a hundred bucks I would never be satisfied with it. It's a starter guitar (albeit a nice one), and that's the beginning and end of the story. Veteran guitar players wont be crazy about this guitar in a few hours. Squier, give us a higher quality HH strat and we will love you for it. The covered humbuckers look so much better than the open coils. Give me some hot wound, rockin pickups with some serious sustain, and a good maple neck and I will buy it.

i bought this on my 14th birthday, and after it came i tuned it and such. the guitar its self is Very light in my opinion, and the sound/tone is very nice . i haven't had any trouble with the guitar, and it looks really good, and its cheap, so far, it beats my other guitars by a landslide. so this is the best 129 dollars i ever spent.

  • okay for the price

As reviewed by Micah on 4/4/2011

i got this guitar for Christmas, and it's okay for the price. for me, this guitar only sounds good with distortion. it's not the best clean. the whole of the guitar is great for the price, but the only things that i would want to replace are the pickups and the tuners. they are not the best, but that's what you get when a guitar cost $99. the neck feels great, it's nice and natural and smooth. this guitar is great for beginners and kids who just want to rock out. the tremolo on this guitar is surprisingly good at least on all the occasions that i use it (i don't use it very much). overall, this guitar is okay for the price, but the tuners and the pickups are where they drop the price.
