  • Well worth the $$$

As reviewed by Chris Brenner on 1/31/2011

I bought a Squire Strat at the end of 2010, however due to my small finger stretch, and the fact that the intonation was off, and it did not stay in tune well, I exchanged for the Tele. I did need a little bit of a set-up to eliminate fret buzz. But after that, this thing is hard to put down. It sounds very good unplugged, and it does not overstretch my finger. And...it stays in tune very well. I had a Fender strat a few years ago (which I had to pawn to make a car payment), but I have to say I like this one better.

  • great deal, sounds good

As reviewed by Robert on 6/28/2009

i got rid of my strat a few years ago and was wanting another electric since i only had acoustic to play with. Wanted a telecaster and they had a great deal at the store. after getting over the fact that it was a squire i bought it. It came with a free fender amp so for 185$ out the door i had this guitar and a little amp to plug it into. After playing it I was very pleased. Plays easy and sounds better than the squire strat my friends and i use to have. For a deal like that you cant go wrong.

  • Not bad at all... : )

As reviewed by Mark Sanders on 3/21/2011

OK I work for GC and will give a short, honest solid review. For $179.00 there is little to complain about. Body and neck on this squire is excellent. The neck feels very good and fast with low action. Body is heavy and thin but makes it very comfortable to play. I should add the butterscotch finish is just beautiful. Hardware.. Bridge seems solid and looks nice. Tuners are decent and it stays in tune. The metal knobs seem quality as well. Pickups.. yes they are a little weak but do the job just fine and it has a that tele tone/twang to it. Neck pup jazzy/warm and bridge pup will rock or give you that bright twang. Complaints now... The switch/selector is horrible had to go through a few guitars to find one that worked in all positions on this model (known issue!). Also the nut is cheap-cheap plastic and will be hard to change cause its also a strange size/narrow.. OK so I own it and love it. Play it everyday and would buy another one if it was stolen or lost. Would make a great great mod guitar or project. In the future I might change the pups on it (maybe). I will watch the switch/selector and be careful cause there crappy on these and the nut will do for now... I say buy it cause I think its our best deals under $200.00... : )
