  • Great beginner's bass!

As reviewed by HeadHunter on 7/12/2010

I've been spending the last couple weeks shopping around for a good but inexpensive bass that's suited to a beginner's budget as well as abilities. I tried the P-Bass but did not like the neck. The guys at some local music stores had tried in the past to convince me that there's no real difference between the J and the P besides looks, but I know better. The J-Bass has a narrower nut and a nicer taper to the neck. I can easily get my pinky onto the E string at the 12th fret, which was something I couldn't quite do with the P-Bass. This baby is smooth and fast. I find I can play the material I already know, more easily and quickly than I can on other basses I have tried. Looks aren't the most important consideration when choosing an instrument, but the J-Bass has got them anyhow. Mine is hot-rod red and dead sexy. A long, slender neck, a sleek body and curvy hips - this bass looks every bit as good as it sounds. I'm sure it doesn't hold a candle to more expensive basses (like its Fender Standard counterpart) but for the beginner on a budget, it's a most satisfactory choice.

  • Great bass for new bassists

This was the very first bass I bought and it is working out great. The tone is nice and it plays great with all sorts of music. Plus, the price is great.

I just started playing bass and i thought this would be a good bass to start with. I was right! This is a great bass for a beginner. Not to mention the price! This is a must buy.
