Speaks warm and resonant with a great tuning range.

If you want a great, all-around snare drum this is it! Spaun has done it again with this 5-1/2" x 14" 100% Maple snare. You can crank it high and cut through the loudest situations or drop it down for a great fatback sound. The addition of die-cast hoops brings in a nice brightness and makes for a great crosstick sound. The subtle flat black finish looks great in combination with Spaun's solid brass lugs in satin chrome and the contrasting black die cast hoops.

Incredibly Versatile

Even if the looks of this drum aren't your cup of tea, it's a must buy. It has a very nice tuning range, and sounds great all the time. It's right in the middle in all respects; not to dry or poppy, and not to warm and fat. You can tune it up high and still get a tasteful sound out of it; it always sounds classic and articulate. I've had a hard time finding another snare that I like better than this. The lugs are fantastic and simple and the die casts are a plus too. One minor flaw is the throw-off - its one of those garbage standard ones that many custom makers use. It's easily replaced though. In all, for the price, the quality of the maple and the precision of the bearing edges are hard to beat.

Excellent Maple Snare Drum

I've just bought this snare drum recently and i have no regrets. The range and vercitily of the drum is spectacular. This is one drum that can't be beat. Its solid and sturdy and it can take a beating. It sounds amazing. A little pricey but its worth every penney. You can use it for different styles, I use it from Jazz concerts, as well Rock&Roll in my garage. :] Spaun really went the extra mile on this one. Overall this snare drum speaks for its self, once you purchase it.
