Crushing power and head-splitting rim shots distinguish this see-through acrylic beauty!

The Spaun Acrylic shell snare drum produces a unique voice, with a loud, cracking attack and a darker, more focused note. Similar sound characteristics to Spaun's Carbon Fiber snare drums. Round lugs and large round vents give it awesome projection and head-turning looks. Serious sound that stands out from the custom snare crowd.

Great Snare!!

I disagree with the fella who said the drum was incapable of dynamics. This is a very dry sounding, loud drum, but great dynamics can be attained when the drummer knows how to play the drum. I've been playing this drum for a few months now and I love it. I've played many different snare drums, but this ranks in the top 5 for overall sound...but that is my personal take. Buy it and enjoy!

definitely custom shop quality made affordable

I first looked at Spaun's vented acrylic snare for its appearance (which is awesome) but bought it for sound. The acrylic has amazing low fundamental which makes up for its somewhat shallow 5.5 depth, and responds to different tunings very well. The only problem is the rubber ends on the snare tension knob and throwoff can slip off, this is easily remidied by a dot of glue. This is definitely Spaun's custom shop quality.

Great quality, unique sound

I played this snare for about a month and I must say that for the price you can't get a better made custom acrylic snare. The guys at Spaun make great products with awesome bearing edges and great solid lugs. However, this snare is not for everyone. The sound is VERY dry due to the two huge vents and it's also very loud. You won't be getting a whole lot of dynamics out of it, but if you want that dry, piercing Chad Sexton sound this is a great way to get it. You'll need to know a bit about tuning to keep the overtones to a minimum also. The sound of this snare personally didn't work out for me, but I wish it did; it's one of the best looking drums I've ever had.

Great snare. Great price.

I have owned this snare for about 5 months now, and I'm totally in love with it. It has very crisp, clean, and responsive attack. For the price I would have to say this snare is extremely good.
