The tom mounts work pretty well as long as your toms are pretty flat. If there is too much angle they will want to vibrate off. I prefer to just set a practice pad on the snare, since the mute does not seem to mute the snare wires very well. The hi-hat mute worked well once I put a slightly larger mute between the cymbals. Like many reviewers have said, the crash mutes make the cymbals sound horrible. I don't use the mutes to make my drums sound good, so I think they work pretty well. The bass drum is the hardest drum to mute and this one works OK. I put some adhesive velcro on the foam pad to help it stay in place. It does change the way the beater feels against the head, but it is not too bad. It easily reduced the volume by half. Overall, they work well for the money.
If you're looking for drum mutes, you can't go wrong with these. The mutes for the snare and toms are great. The mute for the bass drum really dampers the sound quite a bit. The only cons are the mutes for the ride and cymbals, which make them sound really dull so I took them off. Another plus for these mutes is they help protect the drum heads when my 10-year old decides to pound on them. Compared to other brands, these do the job really well for the price. I've bought several products by Sound Percussion and I have not been disappointed yet.
Although I do live in a house and my kit is in a small room away from the living section of the house... drums are drums! These pads solve the problem. I can hit pretty hard with these and still keep the peace. I don't think this would solve the problem if you live above someone in an apartment, but the ground floor may work. All I know is my family is happy I got these and I KNOW my neighbors are happy. For the metal drummer these are a must. I can double bass pretty hard with these and it's all good. The only problem with these is if you're trying use your kit with some precision and technical style, it's not so great. There is not enough give to make your practice sound like you want, but hey... at least you're not pissing everyone off! You should buy these if you need to mute it down.
