Overview

Play your drum kit expressively without being loud with Sound Percussion's drum mute set. Fusion Mutes are specifically designed to deliver a great feel, while keeping your practice time quieter.

Most drummers have experienced the problem of noise complaints while practicing in apartments or late at night. Drums are loud and penetrating but Sound Percussion Mutes dampen the sound, yet retain the feel of the drum itself.

The mutes are constructed of an ultrathin material that closely approximates the feel and touch of a stick hitting a drumhead. Immediately, drummers will notice a vast improvement over existing drum mutes and the makeshift use of towels, tape, and blankets. They are a breeze to get up and ready, just place them on the drumheads and cymbals, and play.

The Sound Percussion Fusion Mute Prepack includes: a 22" kick drum mute, 10" tom mute, 12" tom mute, 13" tom mute, two 14" mutes (for floor tom and snare), 16" floor tom mute, plus ride and a hi-hat cymbal mutes.

10", 12", and 13" tom mutes

Great set of mutes here (yes, the bass mute is included though not listed under 'features'). The pads for the snare/toms/bass are all full pads and dampen I'd say around 50-60%. The mutes for the cymbals include a full hi-hat mute (that goes in between them), and a wide and medium triangle shapes for the others. Yes, the cymbal mutes really jack up their sound (can't imagine how you could mute them otherwise) so I just don't use those (it's mostly the constant thumping, not the cymbals, that my neighbors complain about anyways.)

Awesome, Total Confidence Boost

By A.j.

from San Marcos, California

Comments about Sound Percussion Labs Total Drum Set Mute Prepack:

I bought this pre-pack in store at my local guitar center. At first I was hesitant to spend 60 bucks on the pack, but after taking it home, this is has been an awesome investment. I am an intermediate drummer and this has really allowed me to focus on the accuracy of my drumming. I can experiment freely, and my neighbors don't have to listen. Tom's mute great, and the snare still has enough snap on the pad so it doesn't sound like your playing an electric kit. The bass drum does mute quite a bit, but not as much as the others. Symbols sound awful, but they do provide enough clang that it's understandable what sound the cymbals should be making. Really, totally worth it.

Really Good

By Cory

from Franklin Park, New Jersey

Comments about Sound Percussion Labs Total Drum Set Mute Prepack:

Not much to say but it is awesome the only problem is that with the ride and and crash you don't get like the full ring to the the sound of them. It is good on the hi-hat but it isn't as bad as as the crash and ride. But if you just love playing like me who cares really, this mute pack is AWESOME!!!!!

Great Set of Dampeners!

By Saul

from Chicago, IL

Comments about Sound Percussion Labs Total Drum Set Mute Prepack:

It was my first time buying dampeners for my drum set. I live in a dorm building, so noise complaints weren't anything unusual. As soon as I got this set, the volume decreased greatly. The snare still had it's sound, and the rack tom and floor tom almost sounded better with the dampeners creating a controlled tone. Bass drum has a lower tone. One thing I don't like is that the distance between the beater and the bass drum head is smaller, so I needed to adjust the way I was using the petal. The cymbals are pretty disappointing. The high-hat sounds almost like a cowbell, and the crash/ride cymbal doesn't have that same ring. Overall, great product if you want to lower your drum set's volume. Just don't be surprised that the cymbals do not sound the way they're supposed to.

Solves a big problem...

By metalmann42

from Oregon

Comments about Sound Percussion Labs Total Drum Set Mute Prepack:

Although I do live in a house and my kit is in a small room away from the living section of the house... drums are drums! These pads solve the problem. I can hit pretty hard with these and still keep the peace. I don't think this would solve the problem if you live above someone in an apartment, but the ground floor may work. All I know is my family is happy I got these and I KNOW my neighbors are happy. For the metal drummer these are a must. I can double bass pretty hard with these and it's all good. The only problem with these is if you're trying use your kit with some precision and technical style, it's not so great. There is not enough give to make your practice sound like you want, but hey... at least you're not pissing everyone off! You should buy these if you need to mute it down.

pretty good product

By Pack

from La Luz, NM

Comments about Sound Percussion Labs Total Drum Set Mute Prepack:

The tom mounts work pretty well as long as your toms are pretty flat. If there is too much angle they will want to vibrate off. I prefer to just set a practice pad on the snare, since the mute does not seem to mute the snare wires very well. The hi-hat mute worked well once I put a slightly larger mute between the cymbals. Like many reviewers have said, the crash mutes make the cymbals sound horrible. I don't use the mutes to make my drums sound good, so I think they work pretty well. The bass drum is the hardest drum to mute and this one works OK. I put some adhesive velcro on the foam pad to help it stay in place. It does change the way the beater feels against the head, but it is not too bad. It easily reduced the volume by half. Overall, they work well for the money.

Great Mutes

By Dom

from Lancaster, CA

Comments about Sound Percussion Labs Total Drum Set Mute Prepack:

These pads were a godsend. They all fit my set perfectly. I can realistically play now without worrying about complaints. The material is like a mouse pad. They really mute the sound very effectively, except for the snare drum. It is still pretty loud if you leave it on, so I turn off the snare. I can still get rolls off of the snare, high hat, and ride. I can barely get rolls off on the first tom. Your money is well spent with these mutes.

Highly Recommended

By cr

Comments about Sound Percussion Labs Total Drum Set Mute Prepack:

If you're looking for drum mutes, you can't go wrong with these. The mutes for the snare and toms are great. The mute for the bass drum really dampers the sound quite a bit. The only cons are the mutes for the ride and cymbals, which make them sound really dull so I took them off. Another plus for these mutes is they help protect the drum heads when my 10-year old decides to pound on them. Compared to other brands, these do the job really well for the price. I've bought several products by Sound Percussion and I have not been disappointed yet.

Horrible

By Saul

from San Diego, CA

Comments about Sound Percussion Labs Total Drum Set Mute Prepack:

These pads are not the best muting pads. The tom pads continually fall from its place, and the bass drum ripped in less than 2 weeks. I really regret spending 60 dollars on such a product!

Comments about Sound Percussion Labs Total Drum Set Mute Prepack:

I am currently a high school percussionist and drumline member. Our school has the Evans SoundOff mutes for our performance drumset and those are great in some aspects. Unfortunately they are very expensive for a whole pack which does not include as many mutes as the sound percussion pack. I have a 7 piece drumset with an 8 inch tom and so buying specific pads was going to be expensive, however I went into guitar center and found these mutes for fairly a cheap price.
I don't have a 13 inch tom so I made a small hole in the center for a crash cymbal since this pack does not include a crash pad and it works pretty decently. The only Issues I have with these pads are that the cymbal pads aren't large enough ( an 18 inch cymbal has about half an inch of uncovered cymbal from the edge of the pad to the edge of the cymbal so the mute is probably a perfect fit for a 17 inch cymbal,) and that the cymbal pads aren't wide enough to my tastes and I sometimes accidentally miss the pad and hit the actual cymbal which shouldn't be an issue for an excellent drummer but for me, it is just a little annoying.
After using both the Evans SoundOff mutes and these Sound Percussion mutes I personally think that the SP bass mute on this is better in terms of how it attaches to the bass drum. After a few months of the Evans Bass mute the tension rods that secure to the hoop of the bass drums began to wear down and the pad would gradually begin to slide off the bass drum while playing. When I looked at the sound percussion bass pad I was very confused on how to apply it but by watching this youtube video (URL in description) it seems that the pad will stay secured better.
I honestly prefer the Evans rubber crash and ride mutes better though because they are wider than both the foam SP and Evans pads, but it is just a matter of opinion not in terms of performance. All in all this was a steal compared to Evans and the bass pad wont fall off constantly if attached right.

Comments about Sound Percussion Labs Total Drum Set Mute Prepack:

I really like these. I'm coming from wash rags to this and it's amazing. The only down side is the lower frequencies of the bass drum still exist. But I am dealing with that.
