Stock Heads-After 2 weeks, humongous dents on them. Snare was alright though. (Now I got Remo Pinstripes and Coated Power Dot) Pedal-Never got to try out. I use a PDP double pedal which is pretty good. Everything had an over ring. Immense over ring. But i got Evans Rings to dampen them out(when i had stock heads) I still use them though. Floor tom is really small :[ Bass is Nice though! after i tuned it high, i slapped some SP double click pads on it, sounds beast for its price. The Snare is great after tuned good, and new heads. Mount tom is really disapointing. :[ The hardware has yet to fail me, its amazing. This is just a beginner kit though. Strictly that. Its a perfect starter kit though for anybody. But after you grow out of it, you would really need a new kit.

I got this for my birthday two years ago and I love it. The stock heads can take a real beating. This drum set is perfect for whatever you can throw at it, including metal.

Comments about Sound Percussion Labs SP 4 Piece Drum Kit with Hardware:

I got this drum set about 4 months ago and could not hold in my exitment. Nice. The beginner cymbals i got with them are not thebest but they are tolerable. The only thing I needed now is new heads because the stock always suck and more cymbals. I play for at least 1 hour and 30 min everyday and this set does not dissapoint me. I love it and so can you.

Worth the price

Comments about Sound Percussion Labs SP 4 Piece Drum Kit with Hardware:

This four piece set is truly amazing. This was my first kit and i had it for about 2 years, for the cost this makes a great starter kit. Only issue i really had was that my bass drum started to wear out but i used two pedals on it and really went crazy. All and all i would recommend this drum set.

Very not bad

By Mark

Comments about Sound Percussion Labs SP 4 Piece Drum Kit with Hardware:

I decided I wanted to start drumming but was on a budget. After looking at used kits, I came across this one. Being new and for the price, I decided to pull the trigger on this set and couldn't be happier. After about six months, it's holding up well. I even upgraded the bass pedal to a PDP double and switched back the one it came with, it just seemed more responsive. I am definately planning on replacing heads, as they ring a bit, and the snare head has recently cracked. Also, one of the screws holding the floor tom's leg mounts loosened and fell out, but that was a very minor inconvience. All in all, a great kit if you're on a budget, but plan on replacing the heads soon.

Great first drum set!

By Alec

from Englewood, CO

Comments about Sound Percussion Labs SP 4 Piece Drum Kit with Hardware:

I bought this kit yesterday and it is my first kit. I think it is amazing! The bass drum I like because I made some tweaks and it sounds good with the adjustments. The toms are going to be okay when I get new heads for them. I put my old student snare on the drum stand that it came with but the other snare is also a good one to use. I got the kit without the cymbals so I put my old hi-hat cymbals on the new hi-hat stand which is an okay stand. But I am denfinitly getting a cymbal for that other stand soon. Overall you will enjoy this kit a lot!

This Drumset is well priced. FOR TRASH!

By Anthony

from lakeland,florida

Comments about Sound Percussion Labs SP 4 Piece Drum Kit with Hardware:

Honestly i have played a alot of drumsets, but this one is not even worthy of being called a drumset. this thing is absolutley hell to set up, and the bass drum sounds like a tom. i had to work for days to get the bass to sound like a bass! AFTER USING FELT, TAPE, PILLOWS, AND a bunch of other stuff i got it to sound acceptable! the heads all had to be replaced, and the snare head broke after 4 riffs!the bass pedal came with a cotton beater that was really loose, and makes a loud rattleing sound. I just don't get it! however, the only positive things i have to say about this set, is that the tom heads hold up pretty weel, even through heavy hitting, and that the sound percussion boom stands that i bought were excellent, and were great quality.

Comments about Sound Percussion Labs SP 4 Piece Drum Kit with Hardware:

I've been a drummer for 15 years. I have owned 8 sets in my time.Currently I own this set and a 2008 Tama Rockstar which I would never sell it has amazing tone. The Sound Percussion set gets some really bad press. So I had to see for my self and purchased one about a week ago.I bought Remo pinstripes for the toms,a powerstroke 3 for the bass drum a long with a drum holez in the front, and I keep the factory head on the snare.I recently replaced it with a steel shell Ludwig snare. When I did have the snare it was actually impressive.I got a very nice crack sound out of it.I like my snare heads fairly tight. You have to remember this all comes down to tuning. If someone doesn't know how to tune, this set can sound like a fart just like any other higher end set if not tuned properly.I've made this set sound just as loud and good as my Rockstar set.The hardware is not the best.I do own top of the line Pearl/Tama stands but I knew what I would be looking at when opening the boxes. The bass drum pedal and hi hat stand were absolute garbage I threw those out.I couldn't even think about selling those to anyone. The snare stand and the cymbal stand were very decent and work great for what they are.I sold those to a friend who was just building up a drum kit. Before getting your heads all tuned up make sure to go around the insides of the shells with a screw driver and tighten the screws in there since they are a bit loose nothing noticeable but I just did it for the hell of it and found a few that could be tighter.I have not replaced the resonant heads yet and the drums sound great. It took a bit longer to tune up since I'm not used to the small sizes of the shells. The floor tom with a remo pinstripe can really have a low tone for being so small.I'm looking forward to doing some recording with this set in a blues band I jam with. Also the badges on the drums do look sharp with the yellow on black. All n all this is a great starter set just be sure to know that you will have to buy a better kick pedal and hi hat stand.I suggest the pearl 900 kick pedal for 70 bucks I have used one for the past five years and has held up beautifully. And the Sound Percussion 880 series hi hat stand is absolutely amazing for 70 bucks. I use that one as well taken out to play live and many times just to jam sessions always worked and set up without a problem. And it holds heavy Zildjian cast hi hat cymbals just fine.If you've been playing a long time like I have, then this set is also great for you, since we have the upgraded hardware already and have tuning skills.Just make sure to buy new heads while your still at the store. It will make this set sound great. To the Beginners, don't get resonant heads right away either, save that money and get the kick pedal and hi hat stand if your just starting out.I'm happy I bought this set and looking forward to modifying it. Hopefully this review has been a help to everyone considering buying this set.Rock on!

Even two stars is generous

By Elijah Rain

Comments about Sound Percussion Labs SP 4 Piece Drum Kit with Hardware:

This kit is the biggest waste of my money. I had to put so many papertowels to kill all of the disgusting overtones. and the SNARE! it has the worst echo that rings in my ears whenever I even tap it. I tried ambasador heads and It sounds only marginally better. DO NOT BUY THIS KIT!

Not worth it

By a drummer

Comments about Sound Percussion Labs SP 4 Piece Drum Kit with Hardware:

I bought a 5-Pc. Version of this set, and I was thinking, "wow, I'm going to get a drum set!" But within a few months, my cymbal had two HUGE cracks in it, 2 Bass Drum claws are broken, and my snare head tore. Face it, this stuff just isn't durable. I am not a heavy hitter at all, I just play heavy and good for the styles., but the set just falls apart.

Comments about Sound Percussion Labs SP 4 Piece Drum Kit with Hardware:

I bought this myself for my 1st drum set and I like it. The heads sound good. I bought a starter cymbal pack to go with it. I play the set every day when i get home from school. I would recommend it if you do not have enough money for an expensive set or just a starter.

Awesome.

By DRUMMER

Comments about Sound Percussion Labs SP 4 Piece Drum Kit with Hardware:

i love this kit. i have remo ambassadors for resos and pinstripes for batters on the toms. an ebony powerstroke 3 is my bass batter because they didnt have a normal one in stock. the reso for bass is the stock head. i bought a new snare so i didnt do much experimenting with the stock snare. all of the drums sound great. ive had them for about 6 months. i use an ipod when i play and, after replacing the heads, the drums sound just like all the recordings. buy this kit. nothing to lose. its cheap and an awesome kit.

awsome drum set

By giezi

from pharr away

Comments about Sound Percussion Labs SP 4 Piece Drum Kit with Hardware:

I was at guitar center looking for a cheap(in price) drum set for my band. when i saw this drum set i liked the way it look right away. i was talking to one the the coolest sales person there and he told me that this drum, with the right heads would sound like a $800 drum set. well i bought the drums, the new heads (both sides). after i put them on i had this guy come to my house and tune them.. well let me tell you that this little drum set sounds soo awsome! i hear ppl saying that these arnt that good, even with new heads.. but its cuz ppl forget to buy the resonant head(thats the head that RESONATES!) and think that the drum set is not worth it. if anybody is thinking about buying it. do it! you wont be dissapointed. just buy all the heads and have an expert tune your drum. you'll be impressed by it.

Good kit for the money!

By Darryl Salazar

Comments about Sound Percussion Labs SP 4 Piece Drum Kit with Hardware:

I've been playing drums for 32 years, and this little drumset is my go-to kit for gigs. Sounds every bit as good as my Ludwig kit. I put Evans heads on the kit and wow! I'm a semi pro player and honestly, there is no better kit out there for the money. Need a little jazz kit? Look no further.

Be ready for some work

By Davis

from union, KY

Comments about Sound Percussion Labs SP 4 Piece Drum Kit with Hardware:

I like this kit except for the needed tuning since my family doesn't drum at all except for me tuning is very hard and I think i messed it up. But if you know how to tune then buy this its great for new player except for fills, a bit hard since only has two tom toms. But fills are doable. It is very hard to put to gether also. But after all that hard work you will be pleased.
