ive had this kit for almost 2 years now, it was my first one. overall its a great kit. the downsides to it are that the stock heads are horrible, and ive been having a problem where my small rack tom wouldnt stay in place....even with the memory locks. this kit is durable and will last if taken care of properly.

Amazing!

By Dylan Pipkins

from Lexington

Wow! I got this drum set for my 10th birthday. I'm 15 now, and this master piece is still intact. I started off slow, and now I play Lamb of God songs, all day everyday. I've recently added a 8" Agazarian Splash to it, and I'm about to get another floor tom and a piccolo snare. This is a must have for a Beginner and/ or a Mid Level drummer, wanting an enexpensive but sturdy kit. I mean really, $299 for this is a bargain. Get it now!

Nice mid/low line kit

By Scott

from Fresno, CA

I replaced a 17 year old CB700 kit with this SP kit. This kit sounds better than my old CB. I am not claiming it sounds great but it's acceptable with the rims mounts, for me, to never leave the house with. I don't have a lot to compair to as far as A quality kits go. The pro comes with 2 ply heads, that I replaced with Evans EC2 heads. They are still a little choked for me with the EC2's. I am using the stock SP resonant heads that came with the kit. I do like the cheapo 2 ply bass drum batter head. I put it back on after it sounded better than my aquarian super kick II. The aquarian is a pretty dead/flat sounding head. I found I had to use the memory locks to really hold the tom mounts in place. The tightening system on the hardware gets about a 6/10 in my book. I picked up the pro over the standard SP because of the rims style mounts. I thought they might help a little with the sound. The pro was $50 more which would be the price of 2 gibralter rims mounts, so I got the pro. I got the snare to sound ok, using a Evans HD Dry head and a Remo Dipomat on the snare side. Again, good sounds compaired to me limited exposure to quality kits. There was no problems with assmembly, any person who has seen a drum kit can put this together. Overall nice kit for the beginner to intermediate player.

I Love It

By Matilda Phernunkle

from Kalamazoo, Michigan

This is a great drumset. I got it and it had to be shipped and it shipped very fast. The people at GC were very helpful. I love it a lot and it is very nice. The snare drumhead is very weak and broke after one week. Overall its a great drumset, but there are no instructions and I had to have a friend to help me set it up.

Great!!!

By A metalhead who hates rap

from staten island, new york

i got this as my first kit back in june 09 and i love it i got it in red. also there are some bad things (but dont make the kit too bad) 1.no stands for cymbals toms or snare. 2.NO INSTRUCTION MANUAL!! i didnt know how to set it up at first but i got it right. 3. (basic problem) the stock heads on the drums SUCK just get rid of them as soon as you buy it. i suggest some remo's (my favorite) like ambassadors (for a full deep tone) or pinstripes (for more of a professional sound ie: no deep floor tom). 4.(kind of a good thing) no cymbals (that good cause cymbals that come with a drum kit are usually bad) i love Zildjian and i have: ZBT 14ۡݕ_ crash, ZHT 14ۡݕ_ Mastersound Hi-Hats, and a ZHT 20ۡݕ_ Medium Ride. theyre great cymbals and i want get another crash and maybe a splash. Overall great kit

Do not buy unless you're a beginner.

By Jordan

from Norman, OK

I've had the Sound Percussion SP 5-piece since I started playing the drums (about a year ago) and this drum set is very annoying to tune. I recommend replacing the heads with some evans g2 heads. Also, It sounds fairly nice with a new snare.

decent for a good deal

By D.G.

from Arlington, Tx

i bought this set because it was a good price that came with hardware and hi-hat and crash cymbals(thought they were not great and replaced them 3 months later) the only bad thing i have to say about this set is the ring on the toms but thats basically a problem with most drum sets. i would recommend this set to anyone looking for a good drum set at a good price

Read product description carefully

By t1ip

from Charleston, SC

I did not read the product description carefully. Did not realize it did not come with a snare drum stand or bass drum pedal. I knew it probably did not come with cymbals and stands. Do not rely on photo for product content. Also there were no directions for assembly, so if you are buying this for a beginner like I was, be aware of the lack of instructions. With that said it was fairly easy to assemble, just unsure of how tight drum heads should be tightened and such. Other than disappointment on lack of snare drum stand and bass drum pedal, this seems to be a good quality drum set for the beginning drummer.
