I got this pedal for two reasons: 1) I was new to playing with a double pedal 2) It was UNDER $100!!! No, it's not a GREAT double bass pedal, but for a beginner, and for the price, it'll do exactly what you want. It's not really for anyone above a novice, and it's definitely not up for a constant beating. If you plan on going hard and heavy with this pedal, be prepared to have to fix it. But for what it's worth, I give it 5 stars, no questions asked.

DO NOT LISTEN TO 5-STAR REVIEWS!!!

By No

from Indianapolis, IN

Comments about Sound Percussion Labs Double Bass Pedal:

These pedals ARE NOT up to par with Iron Cobras; I have them. The SP pedal falls apart if you play anything more than AT ALL! I wouldn't even recommend these to people I hate. They basically fall apart every 10 minutes, and the beater position sucks really bad, and it's unadjustable, so you're basically doomed. The beaters can't even reach the middle of the bass drum head, so you'll never get the full sound. Waste of money, even for a beginner.

Don't Buy!

By Josh Sword

from Blue Springs, MO

Comments about Sound Percussion Labs Double Bass Pedal:

This pedal is HORRIBLE! I would not suggest it for anyone. In the first few weeks I had one problem with it, getting the right beater on, and then after that it worked great for a while! Then the problems started.. the beaters would fly off, plastic snapped in half, the chain broke, the arm wouldn't stay attached, anything and everything you could think of went wrong. Take my advice, save your money.. buy the better kick drum pedal.

I Think It's Great

By Chip

from Pennsylvania

Comments about Sound Percussion Labs Double Bass Pedal:

I don't really know why everyone else is complaining about this thing. Although it doesn't come with instructions, if you cautiously put the pieces together, it works like a dream. I really think that these people giving it a bad rep. just tried forcing the parts together or didn't try to find all of the features such as the two extendable bars that come out of the connecting rod to give you a wider space between pedals, or the adjustable beater link that allows you to have the bass pedal idle in the position choose. You really can't go wrong with this pedal if you actually know how put it together. I highly recommend this to anyone who knows how to put hardware together the RIGHT way.

Get the other one

By Brian

from Indianapolis, IN

Comments about Sound Percussion Labs Double Bass Pedal:

I personally didn't have this this pedal, but from friends' experience, it sucks. It doesn't extend far enough to fit a snare in between. There is no adjustable beater position, so it sits about 1-1.5 inches away from the bass head. The company makes it look like it can change into two single pedals, but that's just a gimmick to make it look expensive. Also, the pedal can barely be pushed down at all, and if you tighten it even the slightest bit, the chain will come off every time you lift off the pedal. There is another SP pedal for $99 that is MUCH better than this hunk of metal, so get it instead if you want a decent pedal at a low price.

Unimpressed

By Matt

from NJ

Comments about Sound Percussion Labs Double Bass Pedal:

When i got this pedal, it was decent, but then i started playing it more and after about 2 weeks of use, it would squeek and fall apart. Also, everytime i stepped on the left pedal, it wouldn't spring back. You can get a way better one for a little more money, it would be worth it for the extra money. Don't buy this.

Not so good

By FTFD

from ny

Comments about Sound Percussion Labs Double Bass Pedal:

It was broken out of the box, the beater clamp was cracked bad,so i exchanged it. then the 2nd one lasted about 2 weeks then one of the srews on the angle part of the arm(bar) fell out and wouldnt stay back in. they wouldnt let me return another one so i duck taped it like a redneck (sorry if that offends you im from ny) and that worked but then the other side of the angled arm lost screws to. now thats taped also.

very good

By john

Comments about Sound Percussion Labs Double Bass Pedal:

this double bass pedal is very good and cheap for the guy who said the left one kept hitting the clamp its because he doesnt know that you cant easily rotate the connecting rod so that the pedal goes higher and wont touch the clamp anymore... also it sounds great and again...its cheap!

Don't get it.

By Cain

from Redondo beach California

Comments about Sound Percussion Labs Double Bass Pedal:

Ok there are many things wrong with this worthless pedal. The first. The bars is way TOO short. You can't fit your snare drum comfortably in between your legs and if you make it work whenever you use it your snare drum rocks around. The second. No matter how much you tighten it it WILL NOT stay tight. I was able to play nightmare for about 10 seconds before it fell off and the rockers twisted. The third. You have to adjust the heck out of straight out of the box and before/after every time you use it. The Tension must be adjusted along with the rockers. Over all Take it from me. DO NOT get it. if you are serious about drumming get something like a dw which i will be trying out soon. Even as a beginner it is hard to keep a beat with this.

Good for double pedal novices

By John

from Syracuse, New York

Comments about Sound Percussion Labs Double Bass Pedal:

These pedals are good if you're learning to play double bass pedals, but when I tried to bring it up to a faster speed, they fell apart. I wouldn't even bother looking at these if you're good with a double pedal, because they'll only frustrate you.

this is a must NOT buy

By Ryan

from Elmira, NY

Comments about Sound Percussion Labs Double Bass Pedal:

Just not a good a pedal. The piece that the right beater rod goes into was not on correctly and was just dangling there...I had to force it on with a screwdriver and thought I was going to break the thing. The left pedal hits the clamp when pushed down and why is there even a clamp on the left side anyway??? There is not enough extension between the two pedals and I can't fit my snare between my legs without both legs hitting the snare as I use the pedals. I was going to give it 2 stars for the price but it's not even worth the price. I'm going to return it ASAP.

Not so good

By Alex

from Cincinatti, OH

Comments about Sound Percussion Labs Double Bass Pedal:

This pedal held up at first, but I've had it for about a month and it pretty much went halfway to hell after that, if you want something that'll last, I say something like the Tama Iron Cobra, but if thats too pricey, get the PDP 400.

Eh...

By Eric

from Fort Lauderdale, FL

Comments about Sound Percussion Labs Double Bass Pedal:

I've had this pedal for at least 6 months, and it seemed to work fine at first but not anymore. I bought this because I was a beginner and I didn't want to spend much money, but now I regret it. I try to make the pedals both have the same tension, but it doesn't work. The left pedal seems very off, so its hard to play anything with double bass. I would say just spend a little more money and buy a better pedal.

I Love It!!!

By Justin

from Brentwood,CA

Comments about Sound Percussion Labs Double Bass Pedal:

I just got mine for Christmas and it's awesome! You won't be doing any hardcore metal with it but you can still play post-hardcore. The pedal has only fallen part once because I forgot to put a screw in, but that's it. It's an awesome pedal, especially for double bass begginers(such as myself). Buy this!

Forget the other reviews, this this is great

By Graham Williams

from Factoryville, Pa

Comments about Sound Percussion Labs Double Bass Pedal:

I don't know if people just don't know how to use common sense anymore to put things together, but it doesnt come with instructions...so what? I'm really not good with hardware stuff like this but i put it together in ten minutes and it worked great. i've had it for about 4 months now and it still holds up great, and i use it a lot. I play a lot of metal, so its not like this thing gets used just every once in a while. The only complaint i have is that the screws holding the beaters in place, come loose occasionally, if you keep a cressent wrench handy and just check them once in a while (its a square headed screw) then they should never come flying out of the holder. other than that its a great pair of pedals.
