This is a great set for the beginner or the seasoned pro. Very well put together set, heavy duty double braced hardware. Bass drum pedal is adjustable and very responsive. As a drummer buying this set for my kid to start out on, I was very impressed with its quality. Plus it comes with everything you need to get started (except the throne). There's not much to improve on except maybe some quality heads and cymbals. If you dont have the cash for a highend set, you wont be disappointed with this one.

I purchased this as a xmas gift for my son. Image shows a nice full set. However, you only get the drum and part of the hardware. You don't get the bass drum pedal, snare drum stand, cymbal stand, hi hat stand, hi-hat, crash cymbal, or seat! You have to purchase: SP HARDWARE PACK. You also need to purchase the hi hat and crash cymbal and a seat. The really odd thing is they don't show on the recommended list the "SP HARDWARE PACK" - which is absolutely REQUIRED in order to use the snare drum and bass drum. This review won't likely be listed on the site but it is something customers should be aware of.

I bought one of these sets ( wine colored with hardware) back in 2009 for my band. Now we play over 60 dates a year and have for the past 5 years. Our music is country rock and we travel at least 30 to 100 miles for each show. My drummer is somewhat heavy handed at times and he uses a double bass pedal. The only thing we have done to thses drums is replaced the heads and my drummer bought a different snare drum, but uses the one that came with the kit as a piccolo snare. We DO NOT have drum cases and these drums have been hauled in trailers and the back of pickups all over Southeast Arizona. These drums have NEVER FAILED US and sound as good as many high dollar drum kits out there. We did invest in some Zyldian cymbals and some different hardware as road life tends to wear on equipment. I will add that we don't abuse our equipment either as we consider our equipment tools of our trade. Yes the drums (after 5 years of being on the road) show some scratches and dings, BUT THIS DID NOT AFFECT HOW THEY SOUND. These drums are definitely quality drums. As a mater of fact I just bought a set of black ones so that we could change things up a bit. The shells definitely get five stars.. Those of you that give 3 stars because you didn't get the hardware with the shells , please read the description and do not base your purchase off of the photo.. SHELL PACK means SHELL PACK not total drum kit with hardware although they do sell this kit with hardware as well.. BUY THESE SHELLS AND YOU WONT BE SORRY .. Just don't beat them to death or abuse them. If you treat them right , they'll give you a lot of years of use. These drums have made me a lot of money over the past 5 years.....
This drum set is a really good kit to start out with all you will need to get extra is a double pedal if you like to play fast also new cymbals and stuff like that but overall this kit is a really good kit to start with
Ive been playing drums for over a year now, and I did learn the drums very fast and I consider myself to be at a pro level now. This kit sounds amazing if you just replace the stock heads. The heads that I got for the snare were Aquarian Hi Energy (batter) and Remo Clear Ambassador (resonant). The heads for the toms are Remo Pinstripe. And for the bass drum I got the Evans EMAD Coated Batter Head, and this might sound crazy but I used the old stock batter head as the resonant and it sounds so amazing! But like ALL drums, you have to tune tune and tune. It took me 2 hours to get the drums sounding the way they are, but its definitely worth it! All other drummers with pro kits always ask me "Dude what kit is that?" and I tell them and they just get blown away! This kit works for all types of music!!! Sometimes my band likes to goof around and play many other genres (were a hardcore punk rock band) and this kit works! Love this kit!!!
I have had this kit for about 2 years. It was my first kit, so i didn't really know what to expect. After playing for two years i have found that for this price, it is pretty nice. You will need to replace the heads, and it takes a while to tune, but sounds good and stays in tune for quite a while. The kit still looks as good as when i bought it, except one of the tension rods on my snare broke off the drum (now it is pretty much useless). Hoping to upgrade soon, but definitely worth it if you're looking for an inexpensive kit.
i got this kit about a month ago and its freakin awesome! the quality for the price you pay is awesome. the bass is freakin awesome (just make sure to mute it) the toms were pretty good (just put muter rings around them) and i havent used the snare yet becuase i already had one so i didnt need it but its a really good kit for the price...i say buy it!
I bought this set for my son just over 2 years ago. Seven months later I bought the three piece add-on. He played on this set for 2 years. He's way into the heavy metal style, and he plays it hard. He joined a band just over three months ago and is still using the Sound Percussion set for his gigs. This means a lot of tearing down and putting together. It's really holding up well. He has gotten some quality heads, cymbals and more durable kick pedals to enhance the sound. Guitar Center has all the parts you need right there in the store to keep it properly maintained, which is very convenient. The only problem we encountered with this was the drum heads that came with it were impossible to tune for a heavy metal feel. I have gotten more out of this set than I thought I would when I first bought it for my kid. I have been very impressed and recommend this as a first set for any beginner. Its well worth the money you spend.
Got this set about 3 years ago as a "starter" set to practice on and it still sounds better than ever. I always tell myself I want to upgrade to a "bigger" brand name set but this kit seriously sounds like a pro kit! I obviously changed all heads, got some new hardware, good cymbals, and upgraded the snare and stuff, but the toms and kick sound great! (floor tom has always been a pain to tune tho.. lol) With great care and upgrade, this really sounds like any top-of-the-line drumset...take care of all your equipment people! it seriously pays off and lasts forever...
This set is all around really nice, Well contructed, very durable, and sound quality almost rivaling more expensive sets. My favorite thing though, is if youre looking for double bass drum sets, get two of these! Cheaper, and probably will last longer. At least, that's make take.
I picked this set up for my kids for a practice set. I got it put together and starting pounding and found it plays just like other sets I have owned in the past. Im talking Pearl, Tama, Yamaha quality drum sets that this easily is equal too. People will read this and say "is that dude smokin?" No, I'm not. Sound Percussion has put a contender on the market that equals other brands out there! Take the time to tune them and Dampen the kick drum as it's too ringy out of the box and you will have thunder! I will eventually put some pin stripes on when the stock heads wear out but this thing kicks hard and loud.
This set is really nice for beginners. Got this set awhile ago and its still in really nice shape. But, when I bought it it was pretty incomplete. It was missing snare stand, bass pedal, hi-hat stand and crash stand. But, when you get it it's awesome. But one thing i really didn't like about the set is the bass. Its a nice bass....but I didn't really like the sound at first. It's way too loud and not deep enough. I shoved 2 pillows in there and then it started to sound VERY nice. And I would change the cymbals too. But, for starters, this set ROCKS!
