These headphones produce awesome sound. They have great bass reproduction and don't fail to devliver when the volume is cranked up. However if you buy them be prepared to buy another pair in 2 years. I have owned 2 sets and they have BOTH broke @ the pivot point right above the ear and at around the same time. They are great sounding but a pretty expensive replacement every other year.

Excellent Headphones

By Trevor Williams

from Denver, Colorado

Comments about Sony MDR-V700 DJ Headphones:

I have had the same pair of these headphones since 2002, and love them. The sound reproduction does tend to be a bit bass heavy, so if you are using them to monitor in the studio environment, plan to mix a little bit lighter on the bass than you are hearing. They have great sound isolation qualities and are very comfortable to wear for hours at a time. Regarding durability, I have used these consistently in the studio environment, and in live venues prepping tracks for shows for almost 10 years now, with no durability issues. I treat them like any other piece of gear, put them away when I am not using them and donۡt let people mess with them and they work fine. I can see how, if you were forceful with them, they could break over time, but I see the same as being true with any other piece of equipment. Take care of them, and they will take care of you. I would, and have recommended these to many people. I would buy another pair in a heartbeat if I ever lost this pair.

Terrible Quality

By Daniel Booker

from Las Vegas

Comments about Sony MDR-V700 DJ Headphones:

I took a look at a good amount of the reviews on these headphones and they pretty much all say the same thing. These headphones will eventually break at the pivot with any type of regular use. The song quality on these are great however if you're like myself and need a pair of good quality sounding headphones that can handle being used on a weekly basis, these headphones are Not the ones you want! I've had multiple pair and my most resent has been carried around in a shock resistant case and never been dropped. Even with my extra care I have cracks in both pivots after about 8 months of regular use. I will not be buying another pair.

On my 3rd pair of V700's!

By Vals House

from Denver, Colorado

Comments about Sony MDR-V700 DJ Headphones:

Ive had these for about 4 years now. Im on my 3rd pair at the moment and from getting the warranty its saved me from having to cough up another 140 bux for a pair of new sony cans. But even though its always been the final breaking of them they have lasted me twice over before so well. Always crisp clear sound and when all you do is play "rave" parties in colorado and never able to use monitors and just rely on your cans. They have never let me down. And mine have had some wear and tear on them for sure. Im getting my 3rd pair today and still havent wanted any other brand or options that come with some today. I love the feature that the cord is perminatly attached to them and dont have to worry about it coming loose or even thinking about it. Anyway I love the sony product only wish they would come in other colors, Ive had different colored ducktape at the headband from worn out leather and broken pivots. Anyway great headphone for sure.

Don't buy these!

By Roy

from Atlanta, GA

Comments about Sony MDR-V700 DJ Headphones:

I've bought two pairs of these in the past, and both snapped on the cheap plastic hinge. Other DJ's I've known have had the same problem. Other headphones will sometimes break, but only after tons of abuse. These crack and then break from just general use. Sound quality is good, but there are other headphones in the same price range with the same sound quality and sturdier build, so there's really no reason to buy these. I've used both Pioneer and AKG and would recommend those over the Sony's headphones.

Mine broke too

By Shar

from S.F.

Comments about Sony MDR-V700 DJ Headphones:

After 2.5 years of dragging them everywhere, in and out of my trunk tethered to my laptop bag at least 3 times a day, it's no wonder. Their sound is great. I've never felt the headphones were a compromise. They sound better than just about any setup to my ears.

Heavy use = breakage

By Dean

from Colorado/Wyoming

Comments about Sony MDR-V700 DJ Headphones:

Love these headphones. If you are a dj at home and play out every once in a while they will last as long as 9 years, which is how long my first pair lasted. As soon as i started djing regularly at club in college they took a dive after about a year. Then i got my second pair, and they lasted all of 6 months. But like i said, if you're a dj for hobby, they will last for quite some time. great sound, ear fatigue after about 2 hours. good product, but should have been changed early on in their life and am surprised sony didn't come out with a different version of them.

Used and abused.

By JSF

from Huntington Beach, CA

Comments about Sony MDR-V700 DJ Headphones:

I have had these headphones for just over a year and I love them. They produce great sound even when cranked to the limit. They did break at the pivot, but that's only because I had them smacked out of my hand by a drunk guy at a warehouse party. Little bit of glue and they're good as new! still using them to this day. Great for production and performance.

AWESOME HEADPHONES

By Dj Vunker

from San Francisco, California

Comments about Sony MDR-V700 DJ Headphones:

These are some amazing headphones! Very clear sound and the noise cancelation is amazing. I can clearly hear the music and beat match even when playing in some of the loudest venues around. Yea they will break at some point, but thats the price fo being a dj.
