Overview

The Sony DVD It Might Get Loud is an epic, exhilarating backstage pass into the world of rock stars. There are guitar players, and then there are rock stars. Over the course of one day, three generations of electric guitar phenoms come together, crank up their amps, and let it roll.

Documentarian Davis Guggenheim gives us so much more than an all-star jam session (that alone would make even the gnarliest of rock geeks giddy). He leads us to the artists' inner sanctums and illuminates the paths each one traveled to forge a sound of his own. We begin to understand how a one-time furniture upholsterer from Detroit, a London studio musician, and a Dublin schoolboy redefined the horizons of guitar playing.

Meanwhile, Jimmy Page (Led Zeppelin), the Edge (U2), and Jack White (The White Stripes) seem to genuinely enjoy each other's company while sharing riffs, swapping stories, and divulging their distinct philosophies of craft.

This soulful DVD is at once a portrait of each artist and also a captivating examination of the creative process. It Might Get Loud does get loud, and in the process, opens up our minds and hearts to a whole new way of listening to and enjoying what it means to rock.

BEST ELECTRIC GUITAR DOCUMENTARY

By Geoff Ahearn

from Charlotte, NC

Comments about Sony It Might Get Loud (DVD):

i watched this film the day it came out and i was blown away with how amazing it was. I am happy with being a guitarist but it made me even more thrilled to be part of something that only other guitarist would know about. It was truly inspirational and they way each guitarist's style is shown and broken down is perfect. My brother who has never played an instrument his whole life watched it with me and now he is in Love with Led Zeppelin, The White Stripes, and U2. He is a R&B hip hop kind of guy but since we watched it, all he wants to hear is "stairway to heaven" and other various songs by these artists he was informed about. I highly suggest buying it. Amazing Film...

It Might Get Loud

Comments about Sony It Might Get Loud (DVD):

I enjoyed this DVD. It's about the guitar itself really and how each musician approaches the instrument and creates his own style.

Will not regret it...

By I suck...oh, well...

from Detroit

Comments about Sony It Might Get Loud (DVD):

Entertaining, informative and enjoyable. All 3 guitarists seem down to earth and genial, however, Detroit's Jack White shines in what he gives to this film. This video shows so much of why music, and particularly the guitar, dons so many the passionate follower. You will not regret this watch...
