RiffWorks guitar software makes recording fun and easy with an intuitive recording interface, InstantDrummer, effects, online jamming, and instant podcasting. RiffWorks lets you capture ideas at the moment of inspiration. Set a tempo and start recording by strumming your guitar. Experiment with song structure using a simple riff-based workflow. Tracks are created automatically as you play. Record multiple takes or layer parts without stopping the creative flow.

RiffWorks is an inspiration platform with a familiar interface that looks like fun gear, not like a complicated DAW. It's easy, fun, and productive because the focus is on playing, not engineering. Record efficiently, stay creative, produce high-quality songs, jam online, or podcast your tunes without ever putting down your guitar. You can also add tempo-matched backups with the included InstantDrummer, REX player, ReWire mixer, and metronome. InstantDrummer provides easy access to full-kit studio drum recording with no programming necessary. It lets you include up to 7 studio-quality effects per layer including wah, multiband distortion, modulation, delay, reverb, compression, and British-style EQ.

Rifflink online jamming

Record and collaborate with musicians from all over the world using the RiffLink interface integrated into RiffWorks. Any musician can join your session and work with you at the same time on the same song. There's even a built-in chat client. Each layer is instantly streamed to other current users as well as saved on the server for users who wish to contribute later.

Riffcaster broadcasting
Instantly podcast your songs using the free RiffCaster broadcasting service that is integrated into RiffWorks.

Mix Options:
•WAV (.wav) files - perfect for burning a CD, or using a third party program like iTunes to convert to mp3
•OggVorbis (.ogg) files - a modern, free replacement for the mp3 format. Most sound player applications either have support built-in or there are plug-ins available
•Mix to Riff - bounce multiple riffs down to one layer in a single riff

Riff-based Workflow
Record a complete song in bite-sized pieces (Riffs). This unique and fun way to record facilitates experimentation with song structure. Each Riff can include different backups, effects, tempos, lengths, and layers.

Automatic Track Creation & Loop Recording
A new layer is created each time you start recording as well as each time a riff loops. Stack layers on top of each other (bass, guitar, vocals) to create a full riff sound. Use this looping feature to quickly double up your tracks, do multiple takes, etc. Each layer has several controls for mixing and applying effects.

Includes 4 diverse, tempo-synchronized backups to accompany you while you record:

•InstantDrummer provides great sounding drum recordings with adjustable intensity, variation, and tempo—no need for tedious drum-machine programming (8 InstantDrummer Sessions are included for free with the purchase of RiffWorks and more are available)
•REX Player for playing tempo synchronized loop files (REX and RX2)
•ReWire mixer for playing tempo-synchronized loop files with up to four ReWire synth applications like Propellerhead Reason and Ableton Live

•Metronome: Can be used for lead-in, while recording, for a really simple beat, or to add extra flavor in addition to the drummer

Add RiffWork's 7 studio-quality effects to Layers, Riffs, InstantDrummer sessions, and to the Input.

Guitar Amp and Effects Plug-in Support
Amp plug-ins such as AmpliTube 2 Live from IK Multimedia (now included with RiffWorks Standard) and GearBox from Line 6, can be activated, heard, and recorded while playing your instrument through RiffWorks.

Arming the Junt feature allows you to set the tempo and start recording by simply playing your guitar or singing. Junt has a proprietary tempo detection algorithm that allows you to focus on your internal groove.

  • Song Layer: Option for full song-length recording
  • Riff Gain: Master gain control for each riff

Riffworks is the ultimate tool for recorded jam sessions. Works right out of the box and no hesitation what so ever. No need for my 4x12 cab and amp head anymore. The mix is just insanely nuts. I recommend this to any guitarist that is looking for recording software. The drums alone are fanatastic.

Riffworks Standard

By Jason

from CA

Great program, fast workflow, and very intuitive. It's great for capturing ideas quickly, makes an awesome jam tool, and focuses on songwriting and construction. It's not an all in one DAW by any means, it a completely different animal. Definately for guitarists.

I have had riffworks for about a year and a half now, and I cant tell you how much it has increased both my playing ability and my creativity. This software is so easy to use and lets you create music so easily that you will be inspired to play and play for days. The quality of the recordings is so good that with a little tweaking you can produce a very good demo or cd or whatever!!!! I say buy this product you will not be disapointed at all!!

Recording for the guitarist!

By gatorjj

from Apex, NC

I've tried several "normal" DAW programs and RiffWorks is a different experience altogether. It is guitar-centric and very easy to get up and recording in no time, and gives the ability to put a whole song together in almost no time. You don't even need to take your hands off the guitar to record with the "junt" feature which is great! If you are a good guitar player but new to recording this is the easiest way to get songs done that I've seen. RiffWorks doesn't stop with just the program, the company has put together a complete experience. Included are the ability to "RiffCast" your songs to the Sonoma site, and collaborate with other users in near real time with "RiffLink" which is worth the price of admission all it's own. Great support from the company as well. I primarily use RiffWorks as a composition tool, as you can get your ideas down about as fast as you can come up with them. The Instant Drummer sessions are real drum sounds that you can tweak the beats with the intensity and variation knobs. Overall the effects provided are quite good sounding and versatile. The program gets a little bit limited on mixing due to the riff structure (you have to mix each riff individually), but it's pretty easy to get a decent result without too much complicated effort. In any case you can mix to wav and use this to export tracks for another app if you want the flexiblity. Download the demo and you'll see...then come back here and get it!!!

Riffworks is breaking new ground!

By Rich H

from Twin Cities, MN

What I love about this software is the analog-style interface, excellent graphics, streamlined work flow and innovation for song building. I've tried Live, Cubase and others and no one can match what Sonoma Wireworks have done here for building songs in real time, on-the-fly! Pick a tempo and time signature, record a riff or part, find an Instant Drummer to match, and drag it up to the song timeline. Mix and match and move parts around at any time. It's a dream to be able to write and arrange like this! It's immediate and intuitive. Because of the way RiffWorks interacts with you it actually sparks ideas and gets the creativity happening. The Instant Drummers propel you into a groove and a flow and suddenly you've got something going. Other loop-based softwares are missing this feature. Also, the loops are smooth and seamless. I gave the quality a 4/5 only because there are some minor bug issues to be resolved. They are trivial and I know the development team will get them fixed. The forums at Sonoma are excellent. The support is the best I've seen in the software biz. While it's not a full featured DAW (yet) it truly is in its' own class in terms of how it inspires and supports the creative process. The interface is the simplest and most elegant I have seen for tracking. As a guitarist and songwriter it's very conducive to the way I think and work. You can learn it in an afternoon. Check out the video here: If you are new to audio recording I encourage you to try this. If you're a guitarist you'll love it. If you are looking for a songwriting application this one is a MUST for the toolbox. It won't do all of what the heavy hitters (Logic, Pro Tool, Cubase, etc.) will do. What it WILL do is get you started so you can export your project and finish it in one of these other applications. I promise you that you can work faster and smarter by starting with RiffWorks, creating and finalizing your ideas there and moving on to whatever you need to finish the job. Having said that, you could easily do the entire project right inside of RiffWorks. At least a few people on the forums have recorded and mixed entire albums with RiffWorks alone. I believe Sonoma Wireworks have broken new ground here. I'm certain their popularity will soar! Check it out folks, this one is special :-) Rich
