Overview

The Simmons SD7K Electronic Drum Kit is the next step up from the popular SD5K, with the expanded functionality that will please drummers and complement any stage. The drum feel is incredibly life-like, with over 300 realistic sounds and an expressive hi-hat. The bass drum pad accommodates a double pedal. With a dual-zone snare pad, 20 preset kits and space for 30 user kits, the SD7K delivers state-of-the-art electronic sounds with USB connectivity at an unbeatable price.

No matter what style you play, you owe it to yourself to explore the world of recording and performance possibilities that electronic percussion offers. The Simmons SD7K Drum Set has live, electronic pads and hand percussion options letting you add exotic sounds that would otherwise require a large and space-consuming collection of instruments. Drum giants like Vinnie Colaiuta and Josh Freese incorporate electronic drums into their live kits, giving them a far broader palette to work from. Plus, with many bands playing live to sequenced backgrounds, electronics are essential for triggering and interacting with your backing tracks. In the studio, the wide variety of sample libraries available make electronic drum sets more useful than ever. Just play the song, and use the SD7K kit's MIDI signal to trigger your choice of samples, and you'll have drum tracks that can be endlessly altered as you mix. Replace the snare, kick or toms, or combine multiple samples for a massively powerful wall of sound.

Bass pedal sold separately.

This is my first drum kit. I chose the electronic kit as it allows me to practice and not disrupt the whole house. I love this kit with two exceptions: 1. You cannot, to my knowledge add more cymbals, as there is not enough room on the back of the module to do so. 2. You cannot, to my knowledge, silence the cymbals with your fingers as you could a traditional cymbal. An additional, but minor irritation is not having the ability to turn the rim sensor off. Great kit, worth the money, I recommend it. Cheers,

I bought this electric kit over a year ago. I tested a few other kits at Guitar Center it I thought it would work for practicing. I chose it mostly for the price and not to annoy my neighbors. Bad Things: The brain, when connected to Garage Band (Mac), doesn't translate the pads correctly and adjustments are required. The drum sounds fake when compared to more expensive kits. The snare drum rim is WAY to large and triggers with more sensitivity then ANY other pad. The screws holding the pads on are junk and strip after a couple of months. I had one brain die on me 2 weeks into owning it and Simmons took 3 months to replace it. Luckily, Guitar Center replace it the same day. In short, you get what you pay for. The more money you pay the better quality you get and since this is the 2nd cheapest set my Guitar Center, I got what I payed for.

amazing sound, and amazing price!

Comments about Simmons SD7K Electronic Drum Set:

this is my first electronic set. I have a gretsch catalaina 8-ply birch thats really has amazing sound. Before I even thought about buying a electronic set. I went to guitar center and sat down for a good hour and half playing five or six different electronic sets, and to tell you the truth I choose the simmons SD7K because of the price and it sounded great if not better then the more exspensive kits. Ya, I have to admit there were some kits that had a extra cymbal or tom, but were twice the price. I'm very happy with my desicion and love the quick response and 350 different kits you can mess with. I also will be incorperating my electronic kit with my acoustic. Over all best by in drum world i've had in a long time.

Comments about Simmons SD7K Electronic Drum Set:

I have owned many sets over the years 4 Sets of Gretch + Pearl Pro + The Pintechs and others - This set is a sleeper it feels better than Yamaha and the lower end Rolands - Has a clear sound with enough flex to change the 30 sets into just what you need as well as having the other 20 that are preprogrammed. For the money it is a real value Hey Simmons was one of the Pioneers in electronic drums- Also extremly well made

Great kit for the price, but....

By Jim

Comments about Simmons SD7K Electronic Drum Set:

I just bought this kit, and I love it. I only have a few complaints and grievances... 1) You can't choke a cymbal-- not a big deal, since most other kits at this price can't either. 2) You can't add more pads/cymbals-- again, not a big deal. I'm pretty happy with the small kit. 3) The crash cymbal sounds are quite limited-- I was a little disappointed in finding only one adequate sounding crash cymbal... there's a ton of nice rides, though. 4) The hi-hat is always dependent on the pedal-- as far as I can tell, there's no way to have a closed or half-closed sound on the hats without holding down the pedal. This is kind of a pain with double bass playing, but again, I make due. 5) The cymbals don't respond to anything faster than ~16th notes-- this is my biggest complaint, as I can't pull off too many hi-hat rolls. When you try to play anything faster than 16th notes, it just starts skipping on them, giving a very broken feel. Other than that, the drum voice selection is nice, stick response is nice, and sound is surprisingly good for a cheaper kit. Definitely worth picking up

A LOT of Drum for the price!

By Bill

from Clermont FL

Comments about Simmons SD7K Electronic Drum Set:

In the 80s I played drums and was in a working band for a number of years. I recently decided I wanted to get back in to drums and play for my local church band. With limited space at home (not to mention other people in the house) I opted for an electronic kit and settled on the SD7K. Putting the kit together was a breeze and the directions were clear. I have been playing them for a few days now and am totally impressed! I like the fact that I can customize the voices to come up with a sound I like. You can mix toms, bass snare and symbol options to find that "perfect" sound then save the kit to play it any time you want with the push of a button. I am a big guy and play hard and I find the frame work to be sturdy and high quality. I would recommend the SD7K to anyone considering it. Excellent drum kit with excellent sound.

Great kit for the price

By Sean

from Marble Falls, tx

Comments about Simmons SD7K Electronic Drum Set:

My wife and I just had our first kid, and infants can't handle acoustic drums so i reluctantly sold my Tama superstar shells and bought this kit. I have to say, I was shocked at the response of the pads. I thought I was buying a cheap kit, but in reality the response is better than expected. The price was easy to swallow, especially when you factor in that you get an auxiliary input and usb midi in/out. There are kits out there for the same price that don't offer half the features that the SD7K module does. I have to say, if you are an acoustic drummer who can't play an acoustic kit in your house, get this kit. It will surprise you!

Too Good to be True.

By RRR

from Frisco, TX

Comments about Simmons SD7K Electronic Drum Set:

The Simmons SD7K Electronic Drum Set is the perfect choice for anybody that is looking for a great drum set within a cheap budget. The SD7K may be cheap, but it is just as good as the Roland brand. I'm a newcomer, but I know my around the block, and I can safely say that the SD7K is easy to use, fun to use, and the quality is just fantastic. The sensitivity is perfect, the drum samples sound realistic and authentic (which is the most important characteristic of any electronic drum set), and the kits span many genres. I'm thankful that Simmons came out with a great and effective drum set such as the SD7K, and I'm glad that I was able to purchase it.

Great kit

By Jerad

from G.A

Comments about Simmons SD7K Electronic Drum Set:

This is an awesome kit for beginners or people who just want something to practice on. I have owned my kit for about two months and I havenۡt had a problem yet. Itۡs easy to assemble, itۡs easy to make adjustments, and the control board is very easy to use. You can also customize the sound of your kit which I think is pretty awesome considering the price. The only complaint I have is that the hi-hats are pretty much all or nothing. they are either opened or closed. There is no in between but as I said if you're a beginner or if you just want to practice it doesnۡt really matter. Overall itۡs a great kit.

Really can't beat the price.

By TK

Comments about Simmons SD7K Electronic Drum Set:

For the price, this is a great set. I have an acoustic set and bought this so I could practice at night. So, I wasn't really looking for an all-out electric set, just one that I could play at night and maybe incorporate into my acoustic set. That being said, this set has some nice features and drawbacks. First, the hi-hat won't register anything faster than 16th notes. Second, the sensitivity is a bit low, however I think this can be adjusted in the utilities. On the plus side, the kit is very versitile, TONS of custom sounds and kits as well as compact. It sounds great through my headphones or through my PA. Very fun to play. All in all, this really is a great kit. It's missing some features of the higher-end kits, but that is to be expected. This kit would be great for a beginner or someone looking to add to their acoustic set. I'm very happy with it and would recommend this set.
