The Simmons SD5K Electronic drum kit has sensitive drum pads made of a durable, yet highly responsive material to accurately capture every hit. All pads have adjustable rack placement and angle adjustments for unlimited customization to your playing style. This includes 2 cymbal pads and one hi-hat pad which have height and angle adjustments for a convenient, custom-tailored fit.
The included hi-hat control pedal gives you the feel of a real hi-hat pedal, providing instant hardware familiarity to your playing. Similar to an acoustic drum kit, the hi-hat functions as a closed hi-hat when pedal is stepped on, and open when the pedal is released.
Unlike acoustic drum sets, the kick pad can be placed independent of the toms for even greater customization to your body size and playing style.
Control the Simmons SD5K electronic drums through an easy-to-read bright multifunction LED display. All parameter settings on your kit are visible, so you'll always know where you are.
The sound module contains 237 voices and gives you plenty of sounds with which to customize your own drum kits. You can store up to 10 different custom kits, or use the 22 preset kits that come with the module for a head start. Also included are a reverb effect, a built-in metronome, and 48 preset songs to practice with.
Lightweight aluminum construction provides the strength of steel, but without the weight. This means easy transportation to and from the audition, rehearsal, and gig. An easy-to-put- together design make setups and breakdowns easier. Specially made locking hinges keep your setup from drifting, ensuring your kit stays exactly where and how you set it up.
This Simmons Electronic Drumset comes with an industry leading 2-year manufacturer's warranty.

I guess I'm use to older electronic sets. The last one I bought was an SDS9, so this is like a new world to me. I wish the bass trigger could handle a double pedal, but there is just no way. The trigger is way too focused. The smooth mounts pose a problem with stability. Had to go aftermarket and get some with some burrs on them. Works much better. Not really impressed with the voices, but I'm going to try a different brain. Hm.........now I'm thinking I should have gotten something different. Reconfiguration is costing me a ton to get this to my standards.

Well, as a beginner the set seemed too cool to pass up for the price and it has served its purpose, but, the quality of the set is mediocre at best...although everything still works well and misses are a part of the set, it still delivers 'drumlike' sounds....Not for the pro for sure...and the friggen tap tap tap sound you get from the high hat, (or ride or crash) drives me nuts...the rubber on the cymbals is WAY thin and allows a plastic thumping sound..volume doesn't hide it too well when your sittin on the throne..I run it with the Roland 350 keyboard amp, (which is way cool) and it does allright enough to get you hooked on playin drums...think I need the Roland drums to go with the amp...maybe a splitter for another crash would work..??,,I recommend this for beginners and beginners only...rat-a-tat...

This is a great drum kit. Its been years since I played drums and discovered my left foot is now the domonant one, however I am right-handed. This is great for beginers or people picking it up again. The thing I disliked was that the kick-pad is meant for only 1 pedal, and it does not come with a pedal at all. I bought a double kick pedal, and the simmons SDPBD kick-pad and now Im jammin every day on it despite the fact that I play mostly guitar. But I recomend this to beginners or people re-teaching themselves to play. Just be aware you might want to customize it a little, but its still an awsome set. BUY IT!
This is a great drum set except the rims around the snare and toms. I just started playing but it sounds like it's pretty good.
My son broke a small part on his SD5K drum set. The part is not available at Guitar Center or Simmons. Simmons is owned by Guitar Center and the Simmons name was purchased to promote this inexpensive Chinese drum set. The part you break may never be available, even though the drum sets are still being sold. Had I known this, I would have opted for a more expensive name brand that stands behind their products.
Pros: ? fairly easy to set up ? easy to adjust ? basic interface ? light weight and doesn't take up a lot of space ***Cons: ? sensitivity of drums lacking quite a bit (i.e. if you do a double tap on the bass drum, it does not register) no way to adjust sensitivity. ? MIDI sounds aren't realistic enough ? does not pick up strength of hit on the pads. Makes the same sound regardless of how hard you hit it. DO buy this if you need to learn drums and have no clue what a real drum set sounds like. DO NOT buy this if you are looking for a little jam kit to brush up on intermediate drum skills. This kit will NOT sound like the ones that are on the floor at GC to test out. I am currently packing this set up and returning it ASAP.
this a good drum set for beginners easy to set up and a very good brand.
I bought this kit about a month ago from musicians friend and it is a piece of junk. I am pretty heavy handed, but in about 3 days, the whole kit fell apart in mid swing. The snare has a lag on it and the pads look tough, but have no good rebound. I would save my money and buy a diff kit. I have a Yamaha explorer I bought after this and it is great!
For the value recieved I am happy with the quality of this Simmons kit....I have heard other electronic kits and it seems like the sound module is just as good soundng as any other...my only issue in question is getting a clean snare sound which I'm hoping is a matter of placement and will correct itself with better adjustment...I got the kit after a prolonged hospital stay and needed to work out on it aside from band rehearsals and it was easy to follow the assembly instructions and everything goes together precicely...so far it's serving its intended use and has far surpassed my expectations...there appears to be room for expansion with other pads and if I ever need to use it live I will add a couple of toms and perhaps another crash
I got this kit for a christmas gift from my wife. The drums had a good sound but had nothing but problems with parts breaking. First the high hat pedal went out then a month later the kit pad went out. I had maybe about 20 hours of playing time. I also found out this isn't the simmons made in britian it's a cheap china made set that guitar center put simmons name on. Lucky it has a 2 year warranty because you'll have to keep replacing parts
If you are looking to play drums in a band, it is a way better investment to get an electric drumset rather than an acoustic.... i play Keyboard in vocals in our band, and our biggest problem is that the drums kill everything else in noise level... If you get an electric you can play as loud as you want and turn it down if you are too loud... the only down side is that you have to buy an amp. BUT IT IS WORTH THE MONEY!
ive had it for a few days and granted im no pro but, i havent noticed anything wrong with this set. but also note that this is my first electronic set...so you can take it from there.yes the pads are ``spoungey feeling``.but theydo respond quite well. the sounds are awesome when i play them through my randall guitar amp(which probably isnt good for it). but it does have a great sound to it.it registers from light hits to hard hits and everything in between.i myself find them d#$%mn good for the price. and if anything goes wrong with them i have the extended 2 year service plan. if you are just starting out or intermediate this is the set for you!!!!
