Recently moved into a Townehouse and wanted to find a way to still play drums with out sacrificing the ability to do so. After doing some research and testing a handful of electric sets, I found this one to be the best bang for your buck! EXTREMELY user friendly, has a huge library of great kits and some fun user music to jam along to. The only reason I didn't give a true 5 star rating is, at times the crash symbols can be difficult in finding the dual sensor, and playing between the multiple times, but, it's not that bad or annoying. Another great feature is the plug and play along to your own music library. All said and done, I'm now able to play a very usable and real feel (to and acoustic set up) electirc kit to full fill my drumming needs. Just throw on the head phones and you'll never know the difference between electirc and acoustic!

Only complaint. The hi-hat sounds are really bad. It totally wrecks this set. They really need to update the module with better hi hat sounds. When i played with songs the hi-hat stuck out like a sore thumb and ruined the sound of any song i tried playing. I messed with all the settings and sounds but could not get a good sound from the hi-hat I wanted at all. I feel like I wasted my money and have to use EZ Drummer for QUALITY sounds through my PC. Other than the sound module being a total piece of junk, the triggers are great and I'm glad to have them, durable, and seems like they will last a long time. Sucks having to lug around a PC to Jam sessions...

Comments about Simmons SD1500 Electronic Drum Set with Blue Metallic Rack:

I checked out several different kits for a while....then the price on this one dropped to where it is now, and anyone looking for an electric kit should buy this NOWWWWWW! It's an insane deal, the kit sounds great, looks vey sharp, etc.

The one real gripe I have with it is that all the rack connection points are tightened with a drum key...but in some places, you can't actually turn a drumkey in a full rotation because the nut is too close to a post!

The actual stick response/tracking is pretty good, the only time it lags is when I'm trying to play paradiddles /double paradiddles around the kit, sometimes a few strikes get dropped. The biggest reason (aside from price) that I chose this kit over the KAT 3 is that the bass drum pad response on the Simmons kit is AWESOME and the KAT is just awful, especially by comparison.

I may buy another one today and combine them into one giant kit. BUY IT NOW!!!!

Comments about Simmons SD1500 Electronic Drum Set with Blue Metallic Rack:

This was my first Electronic kit, and I gotta say, I love every second of it. The initial set up was just so much fun, unboxing all the contents. The snare pad and the Floor tom pads are a great size. All the pads are pretty sensitive.

I only wish the cymbals could be mounted in less of a contorting way, but I just placed one of my boom arms on the far side. Also, opening up the rack itself helped a little.

The Ride cymbal's bell can be hard to get to at times, but other than that the cymbal pads are all good.

Don't depend on the ticks that come with the kit. They felt weird to me.

Get you some headphones, a kick pedal, some headphones and your favorite sticks and you're in business.

Comments about Simmons SD1500 Electronic Drum Set with Blue Metallic Rack:

This Kit is a great value. Some reviews call the pre set kits as poor. I think they are ok. I enjoyed making my own kits anyway. I found the module to be a little confusing at first, but once you read the manual, you can unleash the power of the kit. I use it to demo song ideas, and this kit works perfect for my needs. I would also consider using it in a live situation as well. Another con I read about was that these kits break down sooner than later. I suppose I could see how thats possible. I just they to not beat the thing too bad, so far so good.

Comments about Simmons SD1500 Electronic Drum Set with Blue Metallic Rack:

I set this Kit up in about an hour out of the box, Had to tweak it for another hour to fit my personal style but It is a great set for the money & does not take up a ton of space. The Library has got a lot of options to choose from. There is really only 2 things I'm not a huge fan of and that is the cymbal sounds and the bass drum pad, I use a double base in some applications and I'm not getting ( at least thus far ) a great tone and response from it, this could just be me needing to spend some more time adjusting. Great learning tools as well, I have 2 young kids and this kit will be awesome for them to learn on. The recording is plug and go, easy. I have always played an acoustic kit, This is my first electronic kit so all n all I'm very happy.

I use this product to practice on, works for double bass drumming. At first I put regular iPhone headphones in and was wondering why the sound gaps were happening, you have to use nice headphones to hear all of the frequencies... the snare sits a little low at its highest setting and the furthest cymbal stand to your right feels weird because it's so close. Maybe I just have to figure out the best set up but overall sounds amazing, lots of variety of drum kits and settings! Haven't hooked it up to my computer yet but looking forward to using it in the future to record and what not!

Comments about Simmons SD1500 Electronic Drum Set with Blue Metallic Rack:

I'm coming from a $300 Acorn Triple D-5 so, whatever drum set above the $500 for me would feel like a Roland TD-30, and I've had the set for 3 weeks now, that being said...

I was looking for a new drums set for a while, being honest, the thing that called my attention out of this one was the size for the price, $599 when I bought it. Sets this size are a couple of hundreds more expensive so, as everyone says, it's a GREAT deal. Now, getting to the point, the drum pads are really good and very sensitive. That was the first thing I noticed. However, the cymbals are not as sensitive and the dual zone in them makes them sound like a splash when you're are expecting a Crash sound. In the first weeks could be frustrating until you get to know the set and know where to hit to get the sound you want out of them. I'm coming from a 10 triggers set to a 22 one, it does take time to get used to the new features. Now, I did expect more sounds out of the module, you have hundreds of sounds but, let's say cymbals, you have a 16" and 18" Crash and that's pretty much it.
So far, the weakest point of it is the hi-hat cymbal, it's not as sensitive as you may want to and the sounds are kind of "fake". But it does have more options than the crash cymbals.
The rack is sturdy, the pads mounts are really strong too but the right cymbal is kind of uncomfortable to hit until you get used to it.
It has really good songs to play along and it changes the drum set according to what you're playing, i.e. funk, blues, rock, etc.
The 5th star would be given if the hi-hat qas more sensitive and if the dual zone in the cymbals were more accurate. End point, I'm happy with the purchase.

Great sound, good response, and he'll of a lot if fun to play. The only problem is the instruction book is a little vague, and the module takes some frustrating time to figure out all it can do.
