Comments about Simmons SD1 Electronic Drum Practice Pad:

this is my first electric drum i've had and i love it. i have had it for a few hours and so far it's great. there are many different sounds from all kinds of snares to cymbals, to wood blocks and cow bells. the games with backing tracks are also fun to play with. my favorite part is that i get all of these great sounding drums, cymbals, and other percussion instruments added to my kit with out the big price or all the spare space being taken up.

    Useful tool. Needs improvements

    By nazzo

Comments about Simmons SD1 Electronic Drum Practice Pad:

Very useful and easy to use(if you read the manual), however, some minor improvements need to be made; a larger back-lit would be 100x better, a more thorough explanation of the games would help. A couple more changes would greatly improve the pad, but in the end it is worth it to better execute 5 and 7tuplet notes and accuracy

A lot of substance for a hundred bucks..

Comments about Simmons SD1 Electronic Drum Practice Pad:

The quality is pretty good. Even the foot pedals are not bad, and it comes with an a/c adapter, headphones, sticks. Really all I recommend is a stand. A snare stand works fine. This will definitely help you get your chops up in a more engaging way than a rubber pad and metronome.

Comments about Simmons SD1 Electronic Drum Practice Pad:

I just bought this practice pad one week ago and It totally satisfied my needs and expectations. It has great exercises to help you improve your tempo, it has a lot of extra features. It's great for the price, and if you live in a place that you are not allowed to make noise, you should totally go for this practice pad.

    Great for practice

    By Greg-vn-dX

Comments about Simmons SD1 Electronic Drum Practice Pad:

For the money, this is a great deal. The included pedals let you play kick and hi hat while using the snare. Built in metronome, patterns, and timing detection is great for practice. Minor quibbles: somewhat hard to read LCD screen, low headphone output, drum sounds do not play through the built in speaker (only metronome does). However, for the money this is great. I'd recommend this to anyone looking for a practice pad.

For the money - More than 5 stars!

Comments about Simmons SD1 Electronic Drum Practice Pad:

Was hoping for a practice pad that would also give me a few training aids. I got that and tons more. This has become an instant part of my kit. Piping it through a simple Line 6, 15 watt practice amp, it is capable of putting out levels that match my Yamaha kit and more. I can also do wild things with the sounds by modifying the amp settings. The earphone set comes with a 1/4" plug too, no mini plug here. The 2 included foot pedals for high-hat and such are just OK, use them when it is by itself for coordination. But that's what they are made for. It also converts automatically to mono for driving an amp when you connect the stereo earphone plug to your amp. It comes with the 9V adaptor, a great instruction manual, and the pad is more like a gel pad with great bounce. 65 sounds, 24 rythmns, lots of snares and toms, 6 click tracks, some special effects. The pre-amp onboard is a little weak to drive the earphones effectively, and the cymbals sound digital, but can't have everything. Coming through an amp, it's a tiger. The click tracks are great. You can easily hear them over your kit, no matter how hard you play. I mounted it on a Pro Brand simple cymbal stand and at the lowest setting worked great. For the price, this is an absolute steal. (Hint - throw the sticks away)

    love it.

Comments about Simmons SD1 Electronic Drum Practice Pad:

I hooked up the Simmons SD1 to an old home stereo phono input via RCA adapter cables. It sounds awesome! It is to easy to use right out of the box. You don't even need to read the directions it is that intuitive and it has more capabilities then you'd expect. I bought it maily because I wanted a nice sounding, simple to understand, and loud metronome to practice my drums and guitar with.... and for the nominal price they throw in the AC adapter, headphones, 2 foot pedals and even drum sticks! I just bought a Wah pedal for the same money and they didn't even include the battery and I had to order a AC adapter seperate. I looked all over the internet to find a product like this and mostly all's I found were expensive and complicated drum machines or cheap beaping metromomes that you can't amp up. This is the only thing of it's kind I could find in this price range or a lot higher and I love it.

    I like it

Comments about Simmons SD1 Electronic Drum Practice Pad:

Obviously Simmons is trying to make a come-back in the electronic drum market. The price-point on this pad is very favorable. It has a very extensive variety of practice patterns, many of which I haven`t yet tapped into. I just picked it up on the way to a major show. I found it very handy for warming up before facing down a crowd of 4000+. It has a lot of rudiment patterns to get you in shape. The foot pedals are handy, but maybe not as much as you might think. The feel and response take a lot of getting used to, so I used it for hand chop building instead. If you are looking for a lot of great sounds, forget it. They are OK but very limited. It meets and exceeds my expectations as a warm-up and chop building device. A suggestion for Simmons would be to offer a bracket for mounting on a variety of stands. I engineered my own out of spare parts when I got home. It would also be nice to have more sounds to make it more desirable as an electronic supplement to my acoustic kit. Overall, I doubt any other company can beat the variety of practice exercises this offers for the money. I recommend it.
