I own this set for about 2 years and I'm very satisfied. I connected a Yamaha Hit-Hat pedal and a generic Kick and works really fine. I use most for recording, the huge drum sounds are great and natural for all kind of music. The only thing I don't like is that does not have a adjustment for the display. I returned the first one thinking that the display was broken, on the second, when I got home I had the same problem. I figured that it needs a light over it to give contrast, that's why it worked on the store. I found a little book led light that with a velcro it works great. I put 3 extra pad also, 1 dual and 2 singles I have all together I have 14 pads and the pedals, more than enough, with the custom kits I have a dream drum set to make my tracks. I strongly recommend this drum set for recording.
I wish I had listened to the other negative reviews before buying. So far, no one (including Simmons' "customer service") can tell me which external kick pedal/trigger will work with this unit. Manual is no help. Very poor support. If anyone has this apparently top-secret information, please share.
I have had the SDMP-1 for a couple of months now, all in all, its a mediocre pad. If i had the chance to get a different one, i would. It has plenty of sounds, but the quality is a bit lower than i expected. There seems to be a real issue, with mine at least, about it registering which pads are being struck. For example, when i strike the number 1 pad repeatedly, it will sometimes register that number 2 or 6 is being struck, on rare occasions it could be any of the numbers, even on the opposite side of the board. The biggest issue is what has already been stated: there's no owners manual. The quick start guide that is provided doesn't do much good overall, there's a lot that it doesn't account for. It says to download full manual from their website, but it doesn't exist. I have sent a few emails to Simmons about this, all to no avail, I have yet to receive any kind of response. I wouldn't recommend this to people though.
Bought this about a week ago. lots of cool sounds and beats to mess around with. To reitterate what other reviewers are saying, yes the quick guide they provide you with is useless. and I found out that simmons is only in china now, they got rid of their usa office. Spent an hour with GC's drum guy trying to find a pedal that works with it and didnt find one. cool product but not worth the frustration. returning it today.
I look at the other brands an this had the bang for my buck. The sound selection is big an for the price you can not bet it.I did have problems with the first one but went back to G.C. and they got me right.I also have it run off a HARBINGER APS15 15" speaker and it bangs.Make sure you get warranty from dealer to that goes for all electronic. The first name in electronic drums is BACK. GET ONE!!!!!!
This is by far the worst thing i have ever bought. the instructions dont help at all. for some reason i cant see the screen very well (my visiion is fine)it uses a blue back round and then the words are alittle brighter blue so u cant see anything. theres no way to figure out how to use it connected to a computer, which is what i need it for. Im taking this back tomorrow and gonna go with the Roland. Simmons is horrible
I bought this product and I really find it great for the price it̴s given for. It has good sounds, good drum feeling and you can really enjoy playing it. But I have the same problem as told in the first Review that i can not get the full intructions on the internet as they tell in the Quick start Guide. Can anybody help me with that?
If you want to drum on your recordings, but dont have the room for a full kit, this puppy is awesome. Tons of kits already loaded. This thing is easy to operate.Has tons of options. The neighbors thought I had bought a real kit. After 5 minutes of plugging in, I already tracked a song. Get the optional kick tho. Beats the heck out of a regular drum machine.
Bought it today with a Roland Kick trigger pad. Trigger pad does not work on the assigned 1/4 inch input. There are very basic instructions in the box which offer no help. They advise to go to their website to download a detailed pdf file. When you go their website they don't even show this model!!! Waste of time and frustrating!! I'm returning back to GC.
