I compared both Simmons amps with the Rolands in the store. The Simmons amps sounded more solid and had a very dynamic range. It's plenty loud enough for practicing and playing along with music. I can drive my roomates nuts in a fairly large house and make my ears hurt. This amp will not work (and isn't ment) to play live shows, so dont expect to blow windows out with it. I am happy. Try one in the store and you will quickly see how loude the little amp gets.

This amplifier has tremendous pickup of A.M. radio. There is a modest volume of music, advertisements etc that is always present. The signal is there with our without cables plugged into it and does not change with amplifier volume, grounding scheme or location (at least within my house). The only way to make it sound good is to turn the volume up to the point at which you no longer hear the radio signal (well above a conversational level). Construction and tonal quality is good but if the amp does the same thing in your house as it does in mine you will be very sorry that you bought it.

Simmons

Comments about Simmons DA50 Electronic Drum Set Monitor:

Ive had this amp for a little while now and there's nothing bad I can say about it. I use it for my electric drum set, and I use it to plug my computer or mp3 into when I'm playing along with my regular drum set. It does get loud and I couldn't ask for anymore.

Fabulous Amp for home and big hall

By Jesse

from Littleton, Colorado

Comments about Simmons DA50 Electronic Drum Set Monitor:

I bought this great amp last year with my Roland SPD-S and it is awesome and working well in churches, party hall and home practice and jamming. Nice depth in bass, very acoustic and no annoying noises I experienced with other amps in the same price range. I also play bass guitar and it sounds amazingly well. Try this in the stores and you will know what I am talking about now. Good product from Simmons and I strongly recommend it.

Great sound!

By JL

Comments about Simmons DA50 Electronic Drum Set Monitor:

For a little wedge amp, it's great. Very clean, deep bass, and the aux inputs and separate vol are very useful. Simple, and does the job perfectly...I'm thinking of getting a 2nd one for stereo!

By Rocky Rockster

Comments about Simmons DA50 Electronic Drum Set Monitor:

It is definitely for indoor plays and not for Live Shows, but this one is an awesome amp I have ever come across!! It really gives the best sound from what you are playing!! I have Roland SPDS and when I bought my SPDS I was looking for an amp so I was testing almost most of the amps in the store and this one really impressed mewith its sound quality and of course PRICE!! The EQs are good, response is quick, quality sound, great price, what else you need?? Go for it. I strongly recommened this!!

Great Little Amp, FAST Service

By TIM KUHN

from Rochester

Comments about Simmons DA50 Electronic Drum Set Monitor:

I purchased a set of Roland TD-11KV V-Drums V-Compact Series to use at church on Sunday mornings and decided to pick up a small amp so I wasn't limited to headphones. I am impressed with this little amp, it works great. The thing has a good amount of power for a small amp. The lows are as deep as my bass amp, but for something I can carry around so I can hear myself, I am very pleased with the product. I also have to say I am very impressed with the shipping. I ordered the amp online on Saturday and it was delivered Thursday. Guitar Center did an outstanding job of getting me the product.

Impressive sound.

Comments about Simmons DA50 Electronic Drum Set Monitor:

This amp really delivers in sound and quality. I had been using a keyboard amp as I noticed that most drum amps were a bit costly. The keyboard amp was not as good as I thought and I decided to invest in the Simmons DA50 based on the reviews I read. I ordered the amp on line to be delivered at Guitar Center in Bellingham, WA. It was a used amp and it was being shipped from Indianapolis, IN. On the way it got stuck in Wentachee, WA due to a forest fire. After a 4 day delay I picked it up and got it home. I hooked it up to my Simmons set and the sound that came out of the amp was better than my keyboard amp. It was night and day. I have only played it a few times but every time I start playing the sound amazes me. This is a small amp but it is good enough for my needs. The best amp I have ever bought and hopefully it will last for a long time. I am very impressed and recommend it to anyone that is thinking of getting a simple personal use amp.

Comments about Simmons DA50 Electronic Drum Set Monitor:

I have a Roland electronic drum kit in my basement. I supplement the drum pads with actual cymbals and high-hat, so I don't really need the high's from the monitor. I run my iPhone into the mix channel of the drum controller. This setup provides great sound from the monitor when at volume settings below about 60%. You start going above that and the lows start to distort badly. Granted at 60% its more than enough to result in my wife pounding on the floor above to "turn it down", which is all any self respecting drummer really wants, to effectively annoy family and loved ones. All in, I am very happy with this monitor. After 2 years I'm ready to move up to "more power" and I'm looking to upgrade to the DA200. I'd buy the DA50 again in a heart beat.

THis amp. Oh my god. This amp guys. Look, if you're looking for a first amp, this one is highly recommended. Right out of the box, it delivers exactly what it's supposed to. Maybe not for huge shows, but when you know that you need to stick out, this perfect "pint-sized" amp is the way to go. I already have 4 amps in a small room, and this amp is perfectly sized to go anywhere. The volume speaks volumes. Perfect for any situation if this is your very electronic drum amp.

Comments about Simmons DA50 Electronic Drum Set Monitor:

This unit I use at home and rehearse with songs off of CD's that are on the bands set list...I am impressed with all the imputs that make it possible to operate this monitor without a whole bunch of adapters...there are seperate volume controls for each imput and allows you to fit in perfectly without the kit or the prerecorded material being overbearing....absolutely serves my needs at home...I just use it to workout and get back my strength and stamina back after a prolonged hospital stay....

Comments about Simmons DA50 Electronic Drum Set Monitor:

I knew buying this meant I would be getting a highly rated product but I was surprised. I use it for practicing and it performs effortlessly. The lows really thump, my snare now jumps right out compared to my 400.00 headphones I was using, and the cymbals are quite sharp and realistic. I would buy another one in a heartbeat except my neighbors would hate me! If you read this far, you know you want one, just do it!

Comments about Simmons DA50 Electronic Drum Set Monitor:

Just adding to the many 5 star reviews. Simmons hit this one out of the park. I've only had this for a few days and already wondering how we got buy without it. It is a sweet drum amp for sure, but its also been used as a keyboard amp and a bass amp with good results. My son spent *hours* on the e-drums after plugging this in and had a huge grin on his face playing along with his favorite songs.

It has a lot of thoughtful design features - knobs that can be turned with a drum stick, two 1/4 inputs with separate level control. 3.5mm input for mp3, integrated handle for easy carrying, etc, etc.

Speaking of that handle, this is much heavier than it looks and feels like it is carved out of granite. So the handle is appreciated.

At 50 watts it is limited to practicing and band rehearsals at relatively polite levels

Comments about Simmons DA50 Electronic Drum Set Monitor:

I just got this couple days ago, and I do NOT regret it. This thing really packs a punch for a 10 inch sub. Its durable, not too heavy, and sound great. It has soft rubber knobs, with a small spot to use your drum-sticks to turn the knobs as wll. I recomend this anyone who like it loud. This is a bad *** amp!

          By Christopher Rennau

          from St. Louis, MO.

Comments about Simmons DA50 Electronic Drum Set Monitor:

Great little amp for practicing at home. Sound is clear and crisp; no buzz, hum, or distortion. I run a Roland TD-7 through it and it makes it about as loud as an acoustic set; when the amp volume is half way. controls are rubber with little indentations that are about the size of a drum stick head so you can turn the knobs with your sticks and not get up. You won't play any gigs with it but you can certainly bother everyone in the house. Very simple and easy to use, very glad I purchased it.

We didn't buy this amp for this particular use, but it certainly shut our noisy neighbors, and their loud party, up. it was past midnight and our neighbors were drunkenly singing... replacing all of the lyrics to any song with Nah Nah Nah Nah Nah. After trying to ask them to be quiet, we resorted to using the DA50. Once the amp was plugged in, and turned on, there was no stopping us. We played a Die Antwoord song for about 90 seconds and got perfect silence in answer. Simply put, the best amp to shut your neighbors up.
