Drumline Teacher

Comments about Sibelius 7:

Everything is pretty much summed up above. It's a great program, great stability, great company, and decent price.
Wonderful product that is intuitive and easy to use. I've only run into a couple of things that get my nerves a bit. Out of the box, the snare has no buzz roll. I'm talking about a marching snare buzz roll. You place it in your music, you go to assign a sound and nada. The closest thing you have is an "open" roll sound. The other thing is the recording aspect of it. This could very well be a new user/setup problem. Whenever I go to record using a midi controller, the system plays EXACTLY what you play. I know, seems like it wouldn't be a problem, but when we're talking about marching percussion, there's really no such thing as a "quarter note" per se. The length of every note is recorded as a 32nd or 16th note. Granted, in time, and with the appropriate rest to compensate for the rest of the note value, but still...not musician friendly notation. Other than those 2 things, I have absolutely nothing to complain about. The music that this thing outputs it wonderful. The ability to output to wave file and actually sound like a drumline really helps in the teaching aspect. Now, all my students don't have to read off of a score sheet that I hand wrote. I'm handing out parts with a recording all ready to put on their ipods. I would recommend this to anyone writing music today.
It's a program....no bugs if that's what you're looking for. I'm using an older dual core Vista machine and it works without hesitation.
I have to admit, it's a little expensive. Especially on a working musicians pay. Well worth the investment if you're serious about putting out quality sheets though.
