The Shure SLX2/SM87C consists of the SLX wireless handheld transmitter fitted with the SM87C microphone capsule. The Shure SLX2 Wireless Handheld Transmitter includes timed backlit LCD display, frequency and power lockout, and "Mute" functionality. The SLX2 transmitter design allows for interchangeable microphone cartridges. The Beta 87C offers an extremely smooth, tailored response for a warm, natural sound. Cardioid polar pattern compensates for the isolation often associated with the use of personal monitors.

I have this mic in our install system. The vocal reproduction is good, but tends to be a little harsh on handling brighter vocals (mid range) - even without eq. Just in our case, seems to work a lot better with female vocals, that are darker and softer. On the construction. I don't think they are very durable in that the mic is cased in a somewhat hard plastic, but doesn't seem like it can take many accidental falls. I believe that it is the same casing the the slx 58's have - and after having a 58 drop a few times, the bottom cap where the battery compartment is cracked. This is actually on a carpeted floor, if that matters any. However, the grill over the capsule is nice and rugged, unlike that of the sm58 - it can take a decent beating and not get all dented. Overall, nice mic for the right vocals. This mic should be auditioned first, or could be used as an additional mic for versatility purposes.
