Overview

Evolved from personal monitor technology that's been road-tested by pro musicians, the SE315 Sound Isolating Headphones deliver full range sound for personal listening or professional monitoring. Featuring single, high-definition MicroDrivers, the SE315 delivers full-range sound and optimized low-end performance utilizing a vented driver. A detachable cable with formable wire enables easy replacement and secure, comfortable fit on stage or on the go. The included sound Isolating sleeves in multiple sizes provide up to 37dB of isolation and a customized fit.

Sound Isolating Sleeves
The role of the included sound isolating sleeves is twofold: blocking ambient noise and ensuring a comfortable customized fit. Because every ear is different, the Fit Kit includes three sizes (S, M, L) of the flex and black foam sleeves as well as 1 pair of triple flange and 1 pair of universal fit yellow foam sleeves. Experiment with the size and style that creates the best fit for you-a good seal is key to optimizing sound isolation and bass response as well as maximizing comfort during extended wear.

A soft-zip, compact carrying case is included to provide a convenient, tangle-free solution to store and travel with your earphones.

I purchased a set of the 315 earbuds from Guitar Center and used them for awhile with the supplied sleeves. None of them fit my ear well and were uncomfortable to wear for long periods (an hour or more). I went to a hearing aid company and they made molds to fit my ears, then sent the molds off to a company that made new custom sleeves to fit the Shure buds. 100% improvement in the sound (which wasn't bad in the first place) and also in the ambient noise reduction. As a matter of fact, you have to take one out to hear something that isn't going through the Aviom system we are using. All was great, until..... One evening at practice, the left bud started crackling badly, especially on the bass notes, then quit altogether. I had to perform the next week using only the right bud, but got by OK. I'm in process of contacting Shure in order to try to get a warranty, but it looks like I'll have to send the entire set (less the sleeves) to them and I'll be without monitors for however long that takes. I'm going to try taking them back to Guitar Center first, to see if they can do anything. They have been great in the past so my hopes are high! Other than the failure of the left bud, I've enjoyed these IEM's very much.

Had a pair for over a year, ran them over with my truck, buying a new pair.

By David Clark

from Uxbridge MA

Yes, i ran them over with my truck. Fell out of my pocket in the driveway and crushed them (my fault). These are the best headphones that I could possibly think of for this kind of money. When im at work, i listen to these headphones for 40 hours a week, and sometimes on my days off. I listen to everything from country to heavy metal. These headphones are NOT just for professional use, but everyday use also. Never had a problem with them. As far as quality goes, know one thing. If you buy these and listen to them for awhile you will NEVER buy a pair of headphones from a place like walmart or radioshack. The difference in sound quality is amazing. The only think I really cannot tell you about is the bass. If you listen to rap/hiphop, not sure if I can recommend them. But every other type of music comes in AMAZING on these headphones. Very comfortable and does not irritate my ears after 8 hours of listen per night. Completely sound proof and durable for long use. Ordering another pair today because I cannot live without them!

AWESOME!!!!!!

By chris smith

from baltimore maryland

I've had these for a few months now and they are just awesome it really blocks out your surroundings and all you can hear is your music blasting in your ears. i dont play shows but i do use them to listen to my music on my iphone or on youtube, you can have the wire coming up in the front or up your back under your shirt like a lot of musicians do i do suggest however IF you've never used ear buds before and you always used the earphones that come with the ipods and iphones or just headphones i would suggest getting a pair of ear buds probably cheap ones just so your ears can get used to having these in your ears but overall these things are just awesome and it also comes with different sized ear buds and another set of them in a more rubbery material along with the foam ones that shape to your ears but i highly reccomend these also another thing the thing that moves on the cord for the ear part themselves doesnt stay in place it will slide down a little bit but its still a great item to have

Pretty good overall

By Mathew Wong

from Fitchburg, WI

I was in the market to finally buy some in-ear monitors for everyday iPod use and for my Roland electronic drums/recording via Garageband. They don't let you try ear buds before you buy for health reasons so buying them is a gamble because they are not cheap. I expected these to be awesome for $. They are great for sound isolation, have good clarity and dynamic range, but really disappointed me with their bass output. I even tried listening to some rap songs with rich bass and they were good compared to iPod standard headphones, but not much better. So, if you're in the market to be blown away by bass-these aren't the ones. They take a little time to put in your ear compared to the average ear buds, but they are comfy once in. They come with tons (like 20) of ear cups that let you customize your fit-if you like the spongy ones, or the rubber ones, or whatever...they have them included. They are nice to record with due to the excellent noise isolation. The cord is long for regular iPod use but is just long enough if you play an electronic kit and are plugging into the brain or into a computer. Overall, I would probably buy them again, but am very curious about how well SE215's are compared to these. I'm guessing you could probably get about the same in the 215's for less.

Shure SE315

By Ryan Goode

from Fort Myers, Florida

These were one of the best things I purchased for my band. The clarity just can't be matched with a huge monitor speaker that you have to lug around to every show. It's just crystal clear, studio worthy, sound. I like the fact that Shure included a ton of extra ear buds to test out so you can get as close to a custom one as possible (without having to drop the $$$$). The only thing I've noticed is that the draw string on the back does NOT stay locked into place. Once you start sweating it will slowly creap down on the back of your neck. They should've placed a locking one in line with the cables to prevent this. Sort of annoying because I slide it back up every few songs. Other than that minor issue you can't beat these for the price!!!

Great

By 1327510

from D.C.

I got these earphones last December because I wanted some high quality listening with my iPhone. I read lots of reviews about them and I decided they fit what I was looking for. Some reviews said they are the best in the SE series for rock music if you don't want to step up to the 535s. I wasn't willing to pay $500 for the 535s. One of the things everyone talks about is not enough bass unless you stick them deep in your ears. But they also need a break in period. When I first got them I was a little disappointed that there didn't seem to be any bass. All the other sound was great and clear, but when I was expecting bass to come in a song, it wasn't there. Things started sounding better once I changed the sleeves. I had realized I was using too large of size, so I went down to the smaller size. This let me stick them deeper into my ears. So now it's been 7 months or so of casual listening. Not daily listening, maybe weekly or biweekly listening for a couple hours at a time. It's been the last few weeks where I have now noticed the sound quality is even better than before. I find myself noticing more details of the music I didn't hear before. Case in point, I was listening to some 70s rock and started hearing some distortion. At first I thought the earphones were going bad, but then I realized they reproduce so many details in the music that even the static of the old master tape was being picked up. There's more bass than before, too. I think they've reached their break in point and it sounds great! Or maybe I've just tuned my ears to them? Either way I'm much happier with them now than when I first got them. I'm just a regular consumer and not an audiophile, so if you're a regular consumer like me, be prepared for a different music experience that you have to get acquainted with. Don't expect big bass like other consumer oriented earphones. You'll hear bass, but it will be clear and won't overpower the other sounds of the music. It just sounds great. The only thing I don't like about them is that my ears get irritated when they're stuck in them for hours at a time. It's sort of like when you put those foam earplugs in your ears and then you start to get annoyed by them and have to take them out... it's like that. But that's not really a fault of the earphones; the depth you are able to stick them in serves a purpose. It's just what happens when you have to stick things deep in your ears. Maybe I just put them in too far? But I do that so I can hear the bass more. So I dunno. They're great anyway.

Great for drummers

By Brad McKenzie

from Springfield, MO

Great sound isolation, great low end, great overall sound... I am a drummer and have spent several years using ear plugs to save my ears, and a monitor to hear the rest of the band. Lousy sound quality... This year I decided to go with headphones/in-ear monitoring. My first go was with a good set of over the ear headphones. Sound was nice, but the bulk was not ideal, and since I play outdoors a lot, they got hot. After reading lots of reviews, and realizing my budget, I bought the Sure SE315's. The first thing I discovered was they take a few practice runs to learn how to insert them properly. Once you get it, no problem. The next thing was the incredible sound isolation. I could barely hear my drums with these things in. Once we got the mix right in my ears, I was extremely impressed with the sound. I got great low end sound for my kick and floor tom, and the clarity was fabulous. These things are great for drummers, or any musician, that wants a great comfortable fit, excellent sound isolation, and a nice quality sound.

These are GREAT sounding headphones. I can hear everything perfectly and fits great since you have a various amount of different ear buds. So glad I got these for Christmas. I use them live with a click. Every drummer should get these for sure.

Much Better than the SCL2

By Derek Frank

from Davenport, IA

Was using the SCL2's and upgraded to these. WOW what a difference. The fact that they seal in your ears to make better bass response is amazing, not to mention the fit nicer, and are easy to adjust. Anyone who has problems telling right from left on the buds has more issues that knowing what ear to put them in. Red is right, blue is left, very simple. great purchase, worth the money

Great, but...

By Josh Stewart

from Atlanta, Ga

Plain and simple, if you're a frontman or guitar player looking for good monitors, these are worth the money if you don't wanna drop hundreds on custom molds. However, drummers and bass players, these are not for you. These 315 are only single drivers which means it lacks that punch and low end rumble you'll want. Go with at least duals but I recommend triple drivers. Everyone else, these are perfect. Clear highs. Fat mids. Get 'em.
