This wireless system was ready right out of the box. Worked incredibly well in an unexpected crowd. The price cannot be beat, the quality is impressive.

Most Affordable wireless mic system

By Hsi Wong

from Plano, Tx

I have been wanting a quality wireless mic system, but most of the Shure wireless microphones are expensive until Shure PGX24 / SM58 went on sales. I think mainly is because Shure launched two new wireless systems in mid 2013 so they drop the price on this older model. I am glad that I was able to afford this mic at a discounted price at Guitar Center. Very easy to setup, auto select channel, put in two AA battery that came with the system, turn on the mic then press sync while your mic is point to the receiver, in few seconds you are ready to use it. Sounds quality is vey clear and pleasing, I own two Shure mic: Beta 58, Beta 87. I thought this wireless SM58 is just as good compare to Beta 58 if it isn't better. Highly recommend it with this new sales price. It's a discontinue model, hurry while supply last.

Great investment

By Jamie Kerr

from South Dakota

This is my first wireless microphone. I was previously using the wired version of the SM58, and really liked it, so I decided to go with the wireless version. The range on this thing is excellent, and actually produces less feedback than its wired counterpart. Setup is a complete breeze, and you have the option to choose from multiple channels to avoid cross-talk with other wireless devices. Because this is the only wireless device we are currently using, I can't comment on the effectiveness of that though. The quality is amazing. I did notice that if I put my mouth on the mic when singing, it clips easier than the wired version. But this is good, because it gets me out of the habit of eating the mic. If I had to list a con, it would be battery life, which really isn't all that bad. The batteries that came with the unit lasted about 6 hours. This shouldn't pose a problem trying to get through a gig, but be sure and have spares on hand at your rehearsal studio. The light on top of the mic turns red to let you know the batteries need to be replaced, so you have advance warning. I would start each gig with a fresh set, just to be safe.

Great system except for the battery cup

By Devon Bolt

from Dundee OR

I have used this system for a few years now in a House of Worship used mostly for speech. It has a very natural sound and picks up well. It is forgiving about how the speaker is holding the mic and it is not prone to cause feedback. The battery life on the handheld mic is good. This has been a reliable system. The one complaint that I have with the mic is the battery cup that encloses the battery compartment by screwing on the end of the mic, the wall on the top where the threads are is so thin that normal use causes the threads to crack and break off. Plan on spending $13 every year or two to get a replacement battery cup shipped to you.

It's more than worth it...

By Tony253

from St. Paul, MN

I started out using less expensive wireless mics for my karaoke show. I have a wired SM-58 and prefer it to my other wired mics. I was looking for something that sounded similar so I bit the bullet and spent twice what I had spent on other wireless for the PGX system. It's a no brainer...There is little difference in sound quality between the wired and wireless SM-58's. Sure (pun intended) it costs more, but the build and sonic quality more than makes up for the cost differnce.

Overall great set up

Great sound. A little problem with interference but probably was my set up. Great distance. Worker with two of them in the rain and on the sand at Catalina Island, they worked through the whole thing.

Better than some more expensive units

By Fuzzball

from Ida,MI

Well the SM58 is an excellent mic. This is a must have mic for any active musician. This mic is excellent for stage use. This mic has been my main stage mic for over 15 years. The SM58 is built tough enough to stand up against years of abuse. If you play live you need to have this mic. The reciever unit does very well for an inexpensive unit. The recever is tough but it will not survive being dropped several times (I have broke 2 of them). The unit seems to do a very good job at maintaining a strong signal and it transmits sound very well compared to other units in its price range. I believe you will be satisfied with this unit.

SHURE says it all!!!!!!

By M-Theory

from Emporia, Ks

I have owned many mics in my short career as a vocalist and this one by far has the greatest sound and capabilties. I really like the fact that I can get away from the rest of my noisy band so that I can hear everything clearly. At times I will go out side while we are having practice and smoke a cigarette and they rest of the guys never notice that I am gone!!! This mic does a great job of delivering the frequency exactly where it needs to go!!! If you are a wandering vocalist this is for you or if you need to get away from the noise to hear better this is also for you!!! All around worth the $$$$ plus I bought the service plan so if it breaks which I am sure that it wont they will replace it!!!! BUY BUY BUY!!!!! Great sound and great clarity!!!!!
