I purchased this Mic because the GC store was out of the less expensive (and better imo) PG58, (Should have waited, lesson learned). I use it to Host Karaoke so my biggest issue is the power button. IT SUCKS! After it turns 'On', there's a much longer delay than the PG58 until it's actually ON and transmitting signal. Also, at least once a show, I have to remove the batteries, and put them back in because the darn thing won't turn OFF, won't mute, won't do anything but sit there and suck up batteries. I also have the aforementioned noise issue, I just adjusted the gain switch, but I won't know until tomorrow how it will sound. I DO however know that I have to crank up the gain and volume on my mixer because this mic is ALREADY quiet, so I'm not looking forward to it being even quieter. AVOID!
Like the other reviewer mentioned on here - the noise is horrible. I replace the batteries 2-3 times per wedding. It's junk. I'm talking to reps about a trade up bc this is BS. I will mention that when the mic works it sounds nice - so i gave it 2 stars.
I am a sound man at our church and purchased this mic for our church less than 2 months ago. From the very 1st night, there is very noticable sound distortion if the person speaking or singing projects much volume. We have turned the gain switch in the head of the mic to the low setting, and now channel has to be almost maxed out to achieve sufficient volume. Going to turn mic in for new one tomorrow, will post again after testing the replacement.
Last week, I had the chance to use the Shure PGX24/PG58 wireless mic system at a dress rehearsal. It was hooked up to a Numark DJ mixer and a JBL EON powered speaker. Usually, with other microphone systems, I would experience interference, but with the Shure, there were none! I was very pleased with the clarity of the sound and how well it picked up my voice. Running on a few AA batteries, this wireless microphone system will deliver. It had both XLR and 1/4" outputs for even more flexibility. It?s definitely worth buying.
