I do a live hard rock solo show with pre recorded drums and bass. I sing and play guitar. I lost my sure 58 at one of my shows and wasnt in a position this year to invest in something at that price and found this one. Personally it sounds just as good as my 58 or atleast good enough in general and the fact that it comes with a nice long XLR cable mic stand clip and case it really is and excellant deal.
Spent some time researching various mics. Ended up buying the Shure based on other positive reviews about Shure products. Only have used a few times so far and the mic has worked well. Seems well constructed. On/off switch is easy to move accidenttally. Should have a detent or more resistance to movement.
The microphones were purchased for a rental and the client loved them. They are good microphones for the price.
This mic is great for people wanting a quality Sure microphone on a budget. The on/off switch is a good addition.
This mic has done everything we hoped it would do. We hooked it up to a Behringer 4 channel board with a keyboard and was able to get clean recordings directly to our laptop. Its nice that it doesn't require phantom power because I was able to buy a cheaper sound board. The on/off switch is handy.
I don't do any singing myself, but wanted a decent mic for my presentation blurb when doing school jazz programs (instead of always borrowing someone else's mic or the school's bad mic). I didn't need the quality/cost of an SM58, but wanted something decent. For what my use is, this mic is great! I used it for announcements at a recent family reunion picnic, outside, and it sounded fine. Great price, great quality (sturdy casing & low switch noise) - I can see it being used by young and/or occasional singers who want a good mic but can't or aren't willing to shell out more than necessary (especially if you don't need studio quality!). I can't compare it directly to an SM58, but it was comparable with an unswitched SM57 for speech. Any vocal tone issues with this mic can be easily taken care of by tweaks on a mixing board or amp EQ. This package, with a switched mic, clip, bag, and cord, was a great deal - highly recommended!
The Sure PG58 XLR is the best mic you will find anywhere for under $99.00. I am thoroughly impressed and stisfied by the performance of this product. It has good range, and the "cardioid pattern" really works well to reject feedback. I would certainly recommend the Sure PG58 XLR to anyone looking for an affordable mic with great features and performance!
To be completely honest i love this mic. My singer and i have been using these for about 3-4 months. This mic has range and projects so clearly. One thing to watch for is feedback, just keep it clear of the speaker path, and it'll be fine. But overall this mic is really good especially for the price if you want a good mic at a great price seriously get this mic.
I caught this on sale and I bought this and I love it. I bought it a few years ago and it's still the only vocal mic that I use in my studio. So if you're on a budget then you'll want one of these.
