Overview

The Shure PG24/PG58 Performance Gear Wireless Handheld Microphone System includes the PG4 Diversity Receiver with PG2/PG58 Handheld Microphone Transmitter, tuned to accentuate the clarity of lead and backing vocals.

The PG2/PG58 Handheld Microphone Transmitter with transmitter lockout function to prevent accidental shut down, a mute, and gain control.

With the Shure Performance Gear PG Series Wireless systems you get a reliable, portable system with up to 10 selectable frequencies and frequency agility.

The Mic has great quality for the price and is great for singing... When it is on a stand. If you plan on getting a Mic for live events where you will be handling the Mic often then look elsewhere. The Mic picks up any movements with your hands. If you switch hands with this Mic you are going to hear it. I announce a lot of events and this is really annoying and distracts the audience. The Nady system with two Mics is really cheap and doesn't even have this problem. Not good for handheld gigs.

Comments about Shure PG24/PG58 Performance Gear Wireless Handheld Microphone System:

I purchased this for use in a presentation room, mostly for audience members to ask questions during a talk. It has worked flawlessly for that purpose, and the many users of the room have been able to understand the simple on/off/mute control button.

The previous unit was receiving interference due to the FCC's reallocation of its frequency band. This new unit has completely solved that problem.

Great Mic for not a whole lot of money

Comments about Shure PG24/PG58 Performance Gear Wireless Handheld Microphone System:

I bought this mic for announcing at Rodeo's we use an indoor arena, we are in a booth above the arena so there is not really a good line of sight that being said i was skeptical as to how well the mic would work well it worked flawlessly didn't cut out once. The ONLY con to this mic is it does go through the batters kinda fast (only Lasted about 4 hrs on a 50 degree day outside)

Great microphone--if you can turn it on

    By SCOT BORGERDING

Comments about Shure PG24/PG58 Performance Gear Wireless Handheld Microphone System:

I have thrre different models of shure wireless such as this one. We know that shure makes great sounding mics, but the power switch is horrible. All three of my shure wireless have this problem and three different technicians have no solution. Until and unless they change the power button to something that consistently, I will buy Sennheiser.

Comments about Shure PG24/PG58 Performance Gear Wireless Handheld Microphone System:

I love this microphone ... it has a great look for wedding receptions at a low cost. But, by getting a low cost wireless mic, you are going to be replacing the battery (9 volt) after every gig and maybe during a gig. The battery life is so low, I think I get an hour out of my batteries, and they have died during the middle of toasts before.

      Think about it..

Great microphone--if you can turn it on.

      By SCOT BORGERDING

      from OKC, OK

Comments about Shure PG24/PG58 Performance Gear Wireless Handheld Microphone System:

We all know that Shure is a well established company that makes some of the best microphones on the market. Their only drawback is their power switch. The power switch is very tempermental and sometimes breaks or sometimes just doesn't work for long periods of time. I have a much older model with a slide type on/off switch, it still works like a champ. I have had 4 different Shure microphones with the current push button and got rid of two of them and rarely gets the ones I still have to power on. Until they change their power switch to something more reliable, I'm buying sennheiser. I do not rough handle or allow others to be rough with my microphones. I've also talked to others who had the same problems. It ain't me, babe...

A Great Mic for a GREAT! Price

      By Derek Buckley

      from Illinois

Comments about Shure PG24/PG58 Performance Gear Wireless Handheld Microphone System:

This is an awesome microphone. I recenlty used it for a public event where there were a LOT of cell phones in use and did not have a problem. I the space was the size of a HS Gym and I was able to go all over the room without an issue. I took the mic with me into the crowd and was singing @ peoples tables. Highly suggest for anyone wanting Shure Quality on a nice budget!

Still going strong after 1 1/2 years.

      By Mathew George

      from Mass

Comments about Shure PG24/PG58 Performance Gear Wireless Handheld Microphone System:

I actually went to go buy a 2nd PG58 recently, but GC was out of stock, so I bought the more expensive PGx2/SM58 (review upcoming) and I wish I had held out. I've dropped the PG58 multiple times (have the pro coverage)and it's still going strong, the screen is plastic, no damage, I've found that the stock Shure metal screens dent way too easily. I use the mic for singing and DJ'ing, pops don't seem to be too much of a problem, nice smooth response. As previously mentioned, I'd buy another without hesitating.

Mic does not have volume output control and sounds distorted at high volumes. Eats 9v batteries for lunch.
