Not the best choice

Mic does not have volume output control and sounds distorted at high volumes. Eats 9v batteries for lunch.

Great Mic for not a whole lot of money

By Jeremy Kaminski

from Lowell, Mi

I bought this mic for announcing at Rodeo's we use an indoor arena, we are in a booth above the arena so there is not really a good line of sight that being said i was skeptical as to how well the mic would work well it worked flawlessly didn't cut out once. The ONLY con to this mic is it does go through the batters kinda fast (only Lasted about 4 hrs on a 50 degree day outside)

Great microphone--if you can turn it on

By SCOT BORGERDING

from Stillwater OK

I have thrre different models of shure wireless such as this one. We know that shure makes great sounding mics, but the power switch is horrible. All three of my shure wireless have this problem and three different technicians have no solution. Until and unless they change the power button to something that consistently, I will buy Sennheiser.

Great microphone--if you can turn it on.

By SCOT BORGERDING

from OKC, OK

We all know that Shure is a well established company that makes some of the best microphones on the market. Their only drawback is their power switch. The power switch is very tempermental and sometimes breaks or sometimes just doesn't work for long periods of time. I have a much older model with a slide type on/off switch, it still works like a champ. I have had 4 different Shure microphones with the current push button and got rid of two of them and rarely gets the ones I still have to power on. Until they change their power switch to something more reliable, I'm buying sennheiser. I do not rough handle or allow others to be rough with my microphones. I've also talked to others who had the same problems. It ain't me, babe...

Still going strong after 1 1/2 years.

By Mathew George

from Mass

I actually went to go buy a 2nd PG58 recently, but GC was out of stock, so I bought the more expensive PGx2/SM58 (review upcoming) and I wish I had held out. I've dropped the PG58 multiple times (have the pro coverage)and it's still going strong, the screen is plastic, no damage, I've found that the stock Shure metal screens dent way too easily. I use the mic for singing and DJ'ing, pops don't seem to be too much of a problem, nice smooth response. As previously mentioned, I'd buy another without hesitating.

great product for any level musician

By Tim

from Cohoes NY

Recently got this mic as early xmass gift. I was skeptical from the other reviews on this page. The battery life is acceptable, absolutely no problems with feedback nor dropped signals. Of course you should use good batteries and ideally the xlr connection. Hand noise is minimal. Compared side by side with the wired shure sm58 model, pg58 is louder clearer and crisper mids/highs(some reviews may say different). If you need a budget wireless and are on the fence, you cant go wrong with this product!

Great Mic!

By Eric

from SF Bay Area, CA

I recently purchased this mic and used it at an event where it was constantly used. I had people giving speeches for 3 hours straight and there was not one sign of any interference, cut outs etc. Great mic for the money and very compact. Also the best looking mic in its class. Looks were a huge part of my decision since I DJ weddings.

Excellent value, great performer

By justinyee

from San Jose, CA

Pros: inexpensive, very easy plug-n-play like setup, more channels than othrs in price range, simple on/off/mute in a single button. Great range through glass, two walls, and on top of 4 other UHF systems. Cons: full plastic mic jacket, a bit too much 'hand' noise from person holding mic, and narrow cardiod pattern (pick up sensitivity rolls off greatly after 3" even w gain up). Sturdy performer compared to Sennheiser Freeport system, and shows its downsides when matched against Sennheiser ew300 g2 mic.

Great value mic

By Will

from FL

This microphone is really great, the sound perfectly sharp, no interference at all. The mic itself looks great with no antennas to worry about. The whole system, mic and transmitter are very light, the transmitter is so light that it feels like a empty plastic box. In a small carrying pouch the system can be taken anywhere. One small drawback, the 9v battery does not seem to last as much as it is supposed to (8 hours supposedly).
