The Shure Beta 91 is a microphone unsurpassed for kick drums and other bass instruments. The Beta 91 provides both superior attack and punch, even at extremely high SPLs and a solid, strong low-end response. The Shure Beta 91's cardioid pattern provides outstanding gain-before-feedback and rejection of unwanted sound, and its low-profile design eliminates the need for external mounting hardware.

Brilliant counterpart to the common D112. Where the D112 has quite a soft jazzlike sound the B91 comes with sweet agressive attack that suits heavy metal and gives you a punchy kick. If needet you can just turn down the top end to make it softer. I got it my self after using it once in a studio and getting the sound out of one mic where I usually would put 2 in place.
I currently own the SM91 which feel has a better frequancy response, but their discontinued. When Shure made the 91 series they were designed for Rock. The Beta52 was designed for jazz and blues, however when you put the two together you a sweet sounding kick drum. The 91 picks up more of the slap(what you hear) the 52 picks up the boom(what you feel).
Nice fat bottom, with a punchy attack. I have this mic mounted inside my kick and at every show, the engineers always rave about how it sounds. Place this on the pillow inside your kick, and enjoy your newfound bottom!
