The Shure 512 headset microphone consists of the popular SM10A microphone element mounted on a lightweight headband with a single earphone. The Model 512 mic combines an efficient "open-air" headphone with a close-talking dynamic microphone. The unit is unobtrusive, durable, comfortable, and provides a wide frequency range.
The 512 microphone was designed for sports and news announcing, intercommunications systems, and special events remote broadcasting. It offers convenient handsfree operation, and a lightweight frame to reduce user fatigue. The mic's unidirectional pickup pattern reduces unwanted background noise, permitting its use in noisy environments. The microphone characteristics are tightly controlled resulting in consistent response and output, and the headphone response is tailored to enhance voice intelligibility.
The headband easily adjusts to fit a variety of head sizes and hairstyles, and the microphone boom can be adjusted to accurately place the microphone cartridge at the corner of the user's mouth. This hands-free Shure microphone is supplied with a foam windscreen to reduce explosive "popping" sounds, and a cable clip to secure the cable to clothing.

Comments about Shure 512 Headset Microphone:
These have a great sound quality for the microphone. The headset is decent enough, but everything comes through one ear. At least they're reversible so you can decide which ear you want. These are really flimsy though. About a month after getting these the bracket holding the mic became a little loose, so whenever the speak turned their head you'd hear the clacking on the plastic tapping together. I put a little rubber washer in it and that helped for a few month, then I had to replace the washer because the tapping was starting again. Then a few weeks ago, my cohost tried to adjust the mic to proper position and the plastic bracket broke. Just under 2 years old. This is the youngest mic in my collection and the first to go in the recycle pile.
