One of the world's most popular vocal mics.

The Shure SM58 mic is legendary for its uncanny ability to withstand abuse that would destroy any other microphone. The Shure SM58 has not only helped to define the sound of rock vocals on stage, it's also been used as a hammer to build stages and gone on to perform flawlessly later at the gig. Using a club's house system? You'll be singing through an SM58. And in the studio? Daniel Lanois always uses the SM58 or Beta 58 on Bono's vocals.

The Shure SM58 mic is world-renowned for its distinctive upper-midrange presence peak that ensures an intelligible, lively sound. Perfectly fits a performer's hand, balanced for total comfort during long gigs. Frequency response is a smooth, vocal-tailored 50Hz-15kHz, and the price is a bargain considering its life expectancy.

Shure SM58 Mic Features:

  • Performance tested, industry standard
Uniform cardioid pick-up pattern for maximum gain before feedback and excellent rejection of off-axis sound
Tailored frequency response specifically shaped for vocals, with brightened midrange and bass roll off to control proximity effect

Steel-mesh grille and enamel-coated metal construction resist wear and abuse
Effective built in pop-filter reduces undesirable wind and breathe noise
Furnished with zippered storage bag and break-resistant stand adapter
Extremely durable under the heaviest use
    Shure quality, ruggedness, and reliability

  • THE mic

As reviewed by Scott on 8/23/2006

If you are an active gigger, or recording artist, there is no doubt you've run across at least one of these mics. Extremely cheap, extremely reliable, and great sounding. Although this is mainly a vocal mic, i have used it for instruments, even drums, and gotten an acceptable sound(although we later layered the recordings). If you have big bucks, i would not recommend this mic, because there are many other expensive mics that would do vocals much better. However if you are a low budget musician such as myself, then i would highly recommend this mic for vocals, and as a last resort for instruments, although i would not recommend it if it can be avoided. Happy Rocking!

  • Damn good mic !!!!!

As reviewed by Casey Hensley on 1/25/2012

I've had the Shure SM 58 for 5 days. I cannot believe the difference in this mic and the other mics I own. I have four different brands of which three of them were more expensive than the SM58. The Shure SM58 puts them back in their boxes. The sound I'm getting is awesome. Not saying I have a terrific voice ...just saying that this mic makes a definite difference..For the good. Get one... you will not be sorry.
