Looking for a pair of ears for your mp3 player or computer? Let me suggest a set of Beats first. For the price these might leave anyone looking for the best ears for playback a little disappointed. I've used these for 1) when I'm on drums and 2) when I mix monitors and the band has ears. The sound detail is outstanding, nice and flat with plenty of dynamic potential. The low end is as it should be, clean, tight, and not over emphasized (thanks to triple drivers), The mid and highs are very precise, which enables nice instrument separation even on mono mixes. The 535's allow for less overall volume level which saves my own hearing but they reproduce the dynamics of my mix, with all the intensity but without the spl. That's the feature you pay for. Comfort is a 8.5-10, I'm still working on the right fit. The replaceable cable, very novel concept. No more shipping my gear off for repairs. $499 is steep but WELL worth it if you want the best without getting formed ears at twice the price. The wire over the ear does not hold form as much as I'd like but they won't fall out when properly fitted. This is not the first Shure IEM I've owned but by the quality here it might be the last.

Treat your ears well, get the best...the first time.
This is my first pair of quality in-ears. I've used over-the-ear headphones for live personal monitoring for years until now. There's plenty of accessories, and they're built to last. These have great sound isolating abilities without needing custom molds. There is also no sound bleeding out. My wife used them at high volume and I couldn't hear a thing even with my ear against hers. In other words, they're also good for studio work. So if you're in the market for accurate sounding in-ears for mp3 listening, live monitoring, and studio monitoring... get'm. Want the absolute greatest sound experience? Get custom molded in-ears. But if you don't have a couple grand to spend but still want top quality, get the SE535's.
These phones are the best for the money. But realistically, the E425's should be sufficient for everybody but the bass and drums. The 535's give the best bass. I do not notice more boom or punch with them, but the general sound is better. These phones really flatline everything. You don't have a lot of highs or lows, just a perfect blend of all the sounds.
I actually don't like the way the cables can spin on the headphone, it makes it difficult for me to distinguish left from right when grabbing them quickly. The wire form fit is great, though.
The phones fit well but I must say the plastic casing that houses the drivers does hurt my ears a little over time. I think if I get custom molds that will cause the drivers to stick out a little more and then they won't hit against my ear. For now, shoving the foamies into my ear canal brings the casing flush against the inside of my outer ear.
Definitely glad I got them.
