I currently own the SM91 which feel has a better frequancy response, but their discontinued. When Shure made the 91 series they were designed for Rock. The Beta52 was designed for jazz and blues, however when you put the two together you a sweet sounding kick drum. The 91 picks up more of the slap(what you hear) the 52 picks up the boom(what you feel).
Nice fat bottom, with a punchy attack. I have this mic mounted inside my kick and at every show, the engineers always rave about how it sounds. Place this on the pillow inside your kick, and enjoy your newfound bottom!
I play with my "91" every weekend and does the job without a hitch. Lots of bottom a very good sound and easy to mix with. Could use a little bit more sensitivity. But over all very happy with the product. Not a fan of the XLR adapter that plugs into the board.
