Vintage look and feel . . . state-of-the-art sound.

An unmistakable stage icon for 70 years, the Shure 55SH Series II Unidyne Vocal Microphone features a signature satin chrome-plated die-cast casing for pure vintage look and feel with modern acoustic components to meet today's performance standards. This microphone is excellent for vocal pickup with its characteristic Shure presence peak.

The 55SH Series II microphone has a cardioid (unidirectional) polar pickup pattern that minimizes sound pickup from the rear of the microphone. This allows the Model 55SH Series II to be used in close proximity to loudspeakers without creating feedback problems, and it can perform under adverse acoustic conditions where omnidirectional microphones cannot.

The 55SH Series II has a low-impedance balanced output designed for connection to microphone inputs rated at 75 to 300 ohms. The microphone features a cartridge shockmount to reduce stand noise, an On/Off switch, and an attached, self-tensioning, 5/8"-27 thread swivel mount. This microphone is ideal for public address or theater-stage sound systems, as well as for broadcasting, recording, and other sound applications where a stand-mounted microphone with a classic look is desirable.

Shure 55SH Series II Mic Features:

  • Classic appearance, modern performance
Frequency response tailored for speech, vocals and instrumental music
Cardioid directional pattern for optimum performance in adverse acoustic environments
Shock-mounted cartridge minimizes stand-transmitted noise, ensures quiet operation
Rugged chrome-plated die-cast casing and mechanical design for reliability under rigorous conditions
Self-tensioning swivel mount, permits tilting through 45° forward and 80° backward

  • Not worth the money

As reviewed by John Wise on 5/4/2012

This mic isnt really even that expensive to begin with. however you hare paying a good 100 dollars extra just for the look. dont get me wrong this mic is all about look but if it matters that much to you i would go with the super 55. this mic is very quiet and has decent sound quality but you have to be so close to it and it builds up condensation. i would assume that is because it the diaphragm of the mic is not close enough to the front to capture sound at an optimal level. the mic looks great and it has a switch. but if you are planning on using it for performance or really anything that involves people hearing it i would steer away from it. i used it for 1 show and i wont ever use it again. personally i prefer a 40 dollar mic from radio shack over this one. its cool for a music video but wouldnt use it for much else. hope this helps

  • great for stage

As reviewed by Sebastian on 12/26/2010

it's great mic, looks fantastic, but I recommend it more for hosting than for singing, it's a bit less quality than the beta 58, I love the on/off switch you can leave it open in the mixer and the artist can control when to be on or off, that's one of the main reasons I decided on this model rather than the other one that was upgraded, I live in Mexico, and got it from and by the way great store... they recommend what's best for you and not try to sell u the most expensive stuff

  • Amazing microphone

As reviewed by Moose on 11/26/2008

I love this microphone. it caught my eye as soon as i saw it, tested it out, and was amazed at it. it delivers quality sound, and is well worth the money. the weight and the fact the you don't put it on a clip is a little combersome, and time consuming. but the on/off switch prevents any extra sound from being heard. over all, a great mic
