This microphone is excellent for vocal pickup with its characteristic Shure presence peak.
The 55SH Series II microphone has a cardioid (unidirectional) polar pickup pattern that minimizes sound pickup from the rear of the microphone. This allows the Model 55SH Series II to be used in close proximity to loudspeakers without creating feedback problems, and it can perform under adverse acoustic conditions where omnidirectional microphones cannot.
The 55SH Series II has a low-impedance balanced output designed for connection to microphone inputs rated at 75 to 300 ohms. The microphone features a cartridge shockmount to reduce stand noise, an On/Off switch, and an attached, self-tensioning, 5/8"-27 thread swivel mount. This microphone is ideal for public address or theater-stage sound systems, as well as for broadcasting, recording, and other sound applications where a stand-mounted microphone with a classic look is desirable.

it's great mic, looks fantastic, but I recommend it more for hosting than for singing, it's a bit less quality than the beta 58, I love the on/off switch you can leave it open in the mixer and the artist can control when to be on or off, that's one of the main reasons I decided on this model rather than the other one that was upgraded, I live in Mexico, and got it from guitarcenter.com and by the way great store... they recommend what's best for you and not try to sell u the most expensive stuff
This mic is amazing!! It is the best mic ever. Not only does it have the awesome old school style look, but it sounds amazing. It allows you to mount it however you want and press up against it without moving. There is no feedback what so ever when I use this mic. I would recommend this mic to anyone that is looking for a very good quality mic for a great price.
I love this microphone. it caught my eye as soon as i saw it, tested it out, and was amazed at it. it delivers quality sound, and is well worth the money. the weight and the fact the you don't put it on a clip is a little combersome, and time consuming. but the on/off switch prevents any extra sound from being heard. over all, a great mic
