Overview

The Shredneck company designed the Shredneck to satisfy your insatiable desire to shred anytime, anyplace. No matter if you're in a car, bus, train, plane, subway, at school, at work, or on the way to a gig, the Shredneck is a practice and warm-up tool perfect for moments when your axe is not immediately available.

The Zakk Wylde Signature Shredneck plays and feels like the first 7 frets of a guitar. The tuning machines are used to adjust the string tension to accommodate different playing styles and situations. The fret spacing and neck width are modeled after the first seven frets of a standard electric guitar.

You can work on lightning fast runs, finger movements, chords, percussive elements, or simply warm up your hands in anticipation of playing guitar. Unlike hand exercisers, which generally have been designed for therapeutic reasons and not to help improve your guitar playing skills, this handy guitar neck has been specifically designed to help you warm-up for gigs, develop your playing skills, and maintain and build calluses. It is even ideal for student players and guitar teachers when having a full-size instrument in a classroom is inconvenient.

The Shredneck has tuning machines, however, they are not used to tune the Shredneck. The tuning machines are designed to hold the strings and make tension adjustments. The Shredneck can even be converted for left-handed players because it's designed with fret position markers on both sides of the fingerboard. Remove the guitar strings and turn around both nuts and reverse the strings. You can use any strings you like on the Shredneck.

The Shredneck will help you develop your playing skills, particularly your fingering and playing speed. Since the Shredneck uses real strings and frets, you will also develop the calluses needed for playing. The Shredneck is an ideal way to warm-up before playing or performing, and you can also use the Shredneck to stay warmed-up between sets.

The Zakk Wylde Signature Shrednecks are modeled after 3 of his most famous guitar finishes:

The Zakk Wylde black and white bulls-eye model option:
This option is modeled after Zakk Wylde's famous white and black bull's-eye finish. It's finished off with gold hardware and includes a "picking route" between the 7th fret and nut.

The Zakk Wylde orange and black buzz-saw model option:

This option is modeled after Zakk Wylde's notorious orange and black buzz-saw finish. It's topped off with chrome hardware and includes a "picking route" between the 7th fret and nut.

The Zakk Wylde camouflage model option:

This option is modeled after Zakk Wylde's well-known camouflage finish. It's rounded out with a maple fingerboard, gold hardware, and includes a "picking route" between the 7th fret and nut.

    Shredneck...meh....

    By Brandon Casterline

Comments about Shredneck Zakk Wylde Signature Practice Guitar Neck:

Once again, I'm not trying to take anything away from what the shredneck is. Its cheap, portable, and decent for warming up your fretting hand... but not much else. The strings seem much closer at the scalloped picking area than on any of my actual guitars and this was obvious the first time I picked it up for some legato picking and completely overshot the b string while descending. This is a decent warm up tool, nothing more and nothing less. dont buy this thinking it can be tuned, either. This tool wasn't designed to produce guitar-relevant sounds, it is solely for the mechanics and motions of your technique, expressly aimed at your fretting hand. I personally would not buy again, but I am not resentful that I purchased it this first time.
I'm rating features on what the description of the items says it should have and do, and in that case, it has exactly what it says it does in the description. The padding for your leg is nice, and the included tuning peg covers are good too. scalloped "picking area" is nice.
Tuning pegs and machine heads are loose and wobbly. I know the strings are put on with very little tension, but the high E string on mine wasn't even set up to already have "bitten" into the tuning peg so it could be tightened. No worries I suppose. Fretboard is good, paint is decent... its not like we are buying a custom shop piece here people...
The shredneck definitely does have a niche that it can fulfill well enough. I guess since it came with a "gig bag" that drove the price up some, but seriously, when you pull this thing out of the box, expect a warm up tool thats more in the arena of being worth a little less.

Comments about Shredneck Zakk Wylde Signature Practice Guitar Neck:

The design of the Buzzsaw was excellent, I was shocked at the quality of the paint and materials for the price. The only reason I rated quality 4 is because there should always be room to improve. The only drawback to the shrednecks are that they lack enough weight to stabilize them, so it makes it harder to play scales extremely fast or sweep pick. However, when you go back to a real guitar, it seems like swinging 1lb after carrying 25lbs. And because it is slightly awkward, you build up muscles you never had the opportunity to before. So considering that, it does its job well.I would recommend these to anyone. They may feel a little clunky at first, but that pays off eventually. Just remember what it's for.

Comments about Shredneck Zakk Wylde Signature Practice Guitar Neck:

I'm very satisfied with the Shredneck. It's great for practicing chords and scales, and I can practice while watching TV without bothering anyone else. It's size is also convenient for travel. Well worth the price.
