The Shredneck is the closest thing to playing guitar other than actually playing guitar!

The Shredneck company designed the P-51 Mustang Guitar Neck to satisfy your insatiable desire to shred anytime, anyplace. No matter if you're in a car, bus, train, plane, subway, at school, at work, or on the way to a gig, the Shredneck is the perfect practice and warm-up tool for moments when your axe is not immediately available. The Shredneck is designed to play and feel like the first 7 frets of a guitar. The tuning machines are used to adjust the string tension to accommodate different playing styles and situations. The fret spacing and neck width are modeled after the first seven frets of a standard electric guitar. You can work on lightning fast runs, finger movements, chords, percussive elements, or simply warm up your hands in anticipation of playing guitar. Unlike hand exercisers, which generally have been designed for therapeutic reasons and not to help improve your guitar playing skills, this handy guitar neck has been specifically designed to help you warm-up for gigs, develop your playing skills, and maintain and build calluses. The practice tool is ideal for students and guitar teachers when having a full-size instrument is inconvenient. The Shredneck has tuning machines, however, they are not used to "tune" the Shredneck. The tuning machines are designed to hold the strings and make tension adjustments. The Shredneck can even be converted for left-handed players because it's designed with fret position markers on both sides of the fingerboard. Simply remove the strings and turn around both nuts and reverse the strings. You can use any strings you like on the Shredneck. The Shredneck will help you develop your playing skills, particularly your fingering and playing speed. Since the practice guitar neck uses real strings and frets, you will also develop the calluses needed for playing. The Shredneck is an ideal way to warm-up before playing or performing, and you can also use the Shredneck to stay warmed-up between sets.P-51 Mustang Model:The P-51 Mustang is one of the most famous and recognizable airplanes in the world. It's fast and maneuverable, like you should be when playing guitar. Plus, is it just so darn cool! The Shredneck P-51 Mustang has a rosewood fingerboard, dot inlays, and a silver finish with a vintage P-51 star logo. It's finished off with chrome hardware and includes a picking route between the 7th fret and nut.

  • Good Product for my purposes

As reviewed by Josh on 11/17/2009

The Shredneck, is a good product for my purposes. I am learning to play, and bought a Fender Strat, but when I wanted to practice at work I was scared to bring in my expensive guitar since I work in a warehouse. I only bought this product to practice at work, not to warm up or anything like that so I can not comment on that part. The reason I gave it 4 out of 5 is because it serves my purpose, but it is a little different because it doesn't have the weight and feel of an entire guitar.

  • Good device but limited

As reviewed by Bill Davis on 6/11/2010

This is a good warm-up practice device for an experienced player. Not so useful for a beginner, however, in that it can't be "tuned" and you don't get feedback/sound confirming that you're fingering the fretboard correctly and cleanly.

  • Dead spots

As reviewed by Mike on 4/27/2010

I plan on shipping mine to the Shred Neck people to exchange for a better one. Mine has several dead spots. When you pick the string you don't hear a metal "ping", you hear...a dead spot. I know, the Shred neck is not supposed to be IN TUNE. That's not the issue. I still need to hear a PING in order to know that I'm performing the finger exercise correctly.
