A hard-wearing, specially designed pot with a killswitch.

Since rock music began to go wild and loud in the 1960s the machine-gun sound effect with an electric guitar has become one important characteristics.

If you strum a chord, turn the volume of one pickup down and the other pickup on and move your toggle fast up and down, it shreds your sound. This is the so-called machine-gun sound effect that you can listen to in countless rock songs. So far so good-but those radical actions destroyed innumerable toggle switches.

Shadow has now solved this annoying problem: The SH 124 Kill Pot is a unique potentiometer with a momentary push switch for electric guitars that momentarily kills the sound by stroking it up and down. By pushing the Kill Pot potentiometer up and down quickly it creates an extraordinary sound effect which is well known from the wild rock 'n' roll days. You can now create your own machine gun sound effect with your guitar. This preserves your toggle switch and is much more comfortable to handle.

You can install the SH 124 Kill Pot easily in any common electric guitar. Because of its 16 mm bushing, the potentiometer even suits arch-top guitars. The Kill Pot replaces the standard potentiometer of your electric guitar. It is up to you if you choose to replace your volume or tone pot.

Of course, by replacing your standard potentiometer with the SH 124 Kill Pot you do not lose the feature of the old one. You can also control either the volume or tone with the Kill Pot potentiometer. Additionally, it gives you the opportunity to easily create an astonishing sound effect.

The Shadow SH 124 guarantees 2 million of those pushes, which assures numerous machine-gun sounds. Therefore, the SH 124 Kill Pot makes a killer addition to your guitar!

  • bogus insrtuctions

As reviewed by Carl Schwab on 11/8/2013

The product itself was okay. I had no issues with the "Killpot". What I found Issues with was the "Wiring Diagram" that is included. The diagram has a FOR VOLUME POT and a FOR TONE POT section but the photos only show you how to wire it as a Telecaster style tone pot or as a Les Paul style tone pot(BTW advertised as FOR SINGLE COILS) not for the Volume pot of either guitar. It has a simplified schematic for wiring as a volume control WHICH IS LABELED WRONG!! It says to bridge the signal in from the pickups to the "tip" of the input... DEFEATING THE KILL-SWITCH!! If you want this installed either exercise caution or take it to a tech...

  • What It Says and more!!!

As reviewed by Matthew Wang on 4/20/2011

I have one of these installed in my production line Chapman ML-1 and it is fantastic! The simplicity of it all (just pushing down on my volume knob) is such a great feature to my astounding tone-machine, but it does take some getting used to if you previously owned a les paul and used the orthodox way of achieving kill switch tones. I am unsure of the installation process for this product because my guitar came with this, though when it works it is Awesome!!!

  • Very Low Quality

As reviewed by Majikart on 12/29/2010

I ordered two of these pots, When they got delivered They looked cheaply-made; thinking that's the way pots are suppose to look, I took one of them to my guitar tech to have those and some new pick-ups put in, He later called me saying that they didn't work, No sound, No volume control and no 'Killswitch', Right out of the package; I've decided to drop the killswitch idea and have regular 500 pots put in and use a floor pedal killswitch instead, I'm hesitant about using the other one because of this experience, It's a great idea having an on-board killswitch for your guitar But if the Quality isn't there...Oh well, The search continues.
