Let me just start by saying Seymour Duncan is the best company I've ever dealt with. These pickups are very warm with a lot of growl yet still articulate. They sounded very good in my mahogany bodied maple top guitar. They just didn't have the sound I was personally looking for. That doesn't mean they didn't sound good because they did. Seymour Duncan customer sevice is second to NONE! I called them and descibed the sound I was looking for and they recommended the Hot Rodded set, so I sent these back and exactly one week from the time I sent them in I had my new set. I only had to pay for the shipping to them. I do love the Seymour Duncan sound and these guys have won a customer for life. If your a Dimarzio or EMG fan give Seymour Duncan a try I think you'll be impressed.

I've got a set of these and I believe I paid a premium for the name. I have other Seymour Duncan that are great but the '59s I do not care for. They are too bright and crisp compared to the Washburn set I had replaced. The 59's may be great for Rock but not for blues. I had the tone caps changed twice and still don't get the sound. I will use them in maybe an Epiphone Les Paul. Love the company and quality just don't get the blues out of the 59's.

Comments about Seymour Duncan Vintage Blues '59 Humbucker Set:

I have been projecting an HH Superstrat and picked these pups. Unfortunately when I got them I realized they were for standard spacing strings....which is no ones fault but my own. Anyway on the back of the box it mentions spacing so I'm glad I caught it before they were soldered. "The bridge model is designed for bridges with traditional string spacing of 1.925" or 48.9 mm measured over the bridge pickup." Folks here at MF were very accommodating and were happy to process a return right away. Maybe this review will help you if you are equipped with a Floyd Rose style bridge which has a wider string spacing and are interested in these 59's. MF doesn't seem to offer the Seymour Duncan 59 Trembucker but I will opt for a 59 in the neck and a JB Trembucker at the bridge with my exchange. Awesome Set!

Comments about Seymour Duncan Vintage Blues '59 Humbucker Set:

Excellent economical choice for Epi Dot Deluxe. Much improved tone on both bridge and neck p/u's. My epi stock p/u's were kinda dark/muddy and I wanted more treble or brighter sound but not too shrill. These fit the bill and went in easily on my Dot with a little preparation due to its hollow body construction. The only thing I noticed was the neck p/u (which is oriented opposite the bridge p/u) lead wire had to pass underneath the p/u because the switch on the epi is down by the pots, unlike a Les Paul. This, however, was not a problem since the lead wire was long enough.

Put these in my PRS SE singlecut and boy, what a great improvement in the sound. I love the tone, just the right balance. Not too overwhelming and hearing the clarity of each note in each string is joyful bliss. Also noticed the dynamics with varying pick attack, love that harmonics every time. Definitely a good buy for the price I paid during a holiday sale. It helps to inspire you to play more guitar music.

Comments about Seymour Duncan Vintage Blues '59 Humbucker Set:

Bought for a 335 12 stringer. Also spent the money on original Seymor Duncan pickup covers online. They are the only covers that work right. Tech had to hot wax them. But the59ers are a great match for this 335 guitar for me. Gibsons are too expensive. These are the next best thing for much less costs. I had a Epi Joe Pass with these in them too. Remember, change the pots too to USA brand.

Comments about Seymour Duncan Vintage Blues '59 Humbucker Set:

I have owned every Gibson Burstbucker type, '57 Classic and Custom bucker Pickups and yes Gibson has great sounding pickups, but never have I heard pickups sound so good!

I was totally blown away by these pickups. I replaced my Gibson '57 Classic and '57 Plus with these Duncan pickups. The '57's sound dull and muddy compared to these Duncan SH-1 Vintage Blues Pickup Set.

I swear you will fall over when you pay these pickups. The neck reads 7.77 ohms and the bridge reads 8.54 ohms.

I cannot get over how these pickups sound compared to Gibson pickups....I used to swear by the Gibson '57's and Burstbucker Pro's, now they are running second and third to the Duncan's.

BUY THESE PICKUPS IF YOU WANT THAT TRUE 1959 / 1960 PAF TONE..

Comments about Seymour Duncan Vintage Blues '59 Humbucker Set:

I just put a set of these in my old Epiphone Les Paul that I bought new back in 1996. Very nice upgrade in tone. The stock pickups were OK but I had been on a run upgrading pickups in other guitars with the likes of Lollar, Dominger and a couple of custom-wound Eastgroves. All great pickups for sure but these Vintage Blues pickups are excellent and sound just like what you would expect- warm, fat bell-like womany tones to muscled beefy overdrive. These are NOT high gain or for metal. These are for blues and jazz and do classic rock just fine. The neck pickup was the biggest surprise as most neck humbuckers to me tend to sound muddy and dark with little note definition. Playing on the neck pickup is a joy! Every note comes through clear and clean and sooooo sweet! Great for Alman Brothers type slide work. These are great pickups for this style of music and the price is very reasonable for the great sound they produce. My first Seymour Duncan set and I'm very, very pleased with them!

I purchased this set for my third Epi Les Paul Studio and I couldn't be happier. They are both clean and crisp and sound great clean or dirty. The neck pickup is great for driving beat with nice bass tone while the bridge pickup is very crisp and a little hotter with nice treble sound.
I feel I don't have to replace the pots or switches on the Epi as these pickups do it all. I couldn't beat the price for a set of nice pickups and figured I would try them, good choice.

Replaced the good original pick ups in a PRS SE Custom Semi Hollowbody. I play mostly clean so I can't comment much on the distortion. These pick ups are more sensitive to playing nuances, louder, and do distort easier than the original pick ups. They are similar to the pick ups in my Guild Bluesbird (SH-1's) and I highly recommend them.

Not only are they cheaper to buy in this Vintage Blues Set , than seperately , but the outputs of both pickups are calibrated to be the same , which I can really appreciate . The tone is sweet & smooth in clean and distorted modes .
