Overview

The Seymour Duncan TS-2s Triple Shot Carved Mounting Ring Set lets you expand your tonal palette by accessing three unique tones from each humbucker on your electric guitar. This stealth pickup switching device allows you to access series, parallel, and split wirings of any humbucking pickup with four-conductor cable via two switches on the mounting ring.

The triple shot mounting ring is easy to install. Just solder your pickup leads to the attached small color-coded circuit board. That's it. Push the two switches towards each other for standard series wiring; away from each other for parallel wiring; and both towards one coil (either one) to shut that coil off.

Note: Will not fit nickel- or gold-covered Trembuckers.

Features
  • Expand your tonal palette
  • Lets you switch from normal to serial or parallel split wiring
  • Switches are built into the mounting rings
  • Made for carved top electric guitars
  • Works with any humbucker with four-conductor
  • Includes a color-coded circuit board
  • Easy to install

I installed these on a Yamaha AES620 (les paul style guitar) so that I could use the full features of the 2 Seymour Duncan P-Rails pickups(humbuckers that include a p90 and a hot rail-strat pickup) that I installed. The point of these Triple Shots is to use just a single coil of a humbucking pickup, and to be able to organize them in series, parallel or solo. These allow me to just use one or both p90's, the rails together or alone, or the full features of the humbucker. I love that they are sleek, simple and out of the way. I would have had to install push pull pots, or drill holes and install more switches on the body of the guitar. The Triple Shots, house the P-Rails perfectly and work exactly as advertised. I only have basic soldering skills but was certainly able to install these very easily. I am in love with the sound that I am getting, and these were the perfect solution for making the switching system work with these particular pickups. I would recommend them for anyone who wants to install a multi featured pickup like the P-Rails.

First off, I loved the idea of installing these on my guitar. I liked the idea of getting the most out of my guitar that I possibly could. So I went ahead and purchased a two pack of these things. But that didn't go well. I own an ESP Eclipse that I wanted to throw a couple of these things on. But they didn't fit. The spacing for the holes on the original mounting rings were about 1/4 inches wider spaced than the Triple Shots. And after a poor desision to drill new holes, the Triple shot wasn't even wide enough to cover the entire pickup cavity. (And as for "F-spaced" Triple shots, I e-mailed the Duncan site. They don't make them. You might be better off with push-pull pots or mini toggle switches anyway.) I'm not saying that this product is bad, I'm just warning you that if you want to spend the $50 on these to throw on your Les Paul, or what have you, then make sure that the measurments are all right and that they will fit ok. As for everything else, a little tough to put together (you might need an extra pair of hands) and they are a little fragile, so be careful when putting these on.

Works great with my Dean Boca 12 string

    By BRIAN KRIM

Comments about Seymour Duncan TS-2s Triple Shot Carved Top Pickup Mounting Ring Set:

I bought these along with the SD Hot Rodded Humbucker pickups for my Dean Boca 12 string. I wanted to have more sound options, plus the stock pickups weren't that great. These Triple Shot switched are awesome. It gives you all the pickup options you could ever want without having to mess around with push pull pots. You really get more than you can from these rather than switch pots. Yes, the four mounting holes didn't exactly match up, but with a little time and patience, you can get it to work.

Got P-Rails? You'll need this, too

    By Dan Ogden

Comments about Seymour Duncan TS-2s Triple Shot Carved Top Pickup Mounting Ring Set:

If you're getting P-Rails, you'll need this to take advantage of them (unless you'd like additional buttons and/or switches on your guitar, or are looking to get even with your tech). You've already thought out getting Duncan P-Rails? Good. You can stop thinking now - just get these. Makes accessing the rail, P-90 and 'bucker sounds a breeze.

    Awesome!!

    By Adam Miller

Comments about Seymour Duncan TS-2s Triple Shot Carved Top Pickup Mounting Ring Set:

These are great. The cream color is slightly different than the cream on my Gibson pickguard, but it's not very noticeable. I also had to take the pickguard off to fit the neck ring on my carved top, but that's no problem. Other than those 2 mild inconveniences, these rings are awesome. They're durable, easy to wire, and gives you a great array of sounds. Highly recommended!!

Great sounds but tricky to install and a bit flimsy.

    By Lee Batchelder

    from Nashville Tn

Comments about Seymour Duncan TS-2s Triple Shot Carved Top Pickup Mounting Ring Set:

I got a pair of these to put on my 2003 Gibson Les Paul Classic. I was attracted to them for 2 reasons. #1 the functionality (ability to access each coil individually) and #2 I wouldn't have to make mods to my guitar and I could put it back to original if I ever needed to. First let me say, if you intend to use the stock pickups on a Gibson, don't do it. My guitar is equipped with stock 496r and 500t pickups. If you were to buy these aftermarket, they would come with 4 wired leads attached BUT installed on a stock guitar, they come with a 2 wire lead. I don't know why Gibson does this, it's almost like the don't want you to tinker with your wiring. The only way to make these pickups work is to unwrap the tape on the coils and fish out the leads to each coil. That is an easy job to screw up and you can easily damage the pickup beyond repair. After I managed to perform surgery on my pickups and finally got the 4 wires I needed attached to the rings I ran into another small problem. The rings were scrunched up when I mounted them onto my guitar. They looked like they were squeezed in the middle. I took them back out and opened up the mounting holes a little bit and reattached them and that seemed to do the trick. Once I finally had them installed and looking good I ran into another problem. My pick guard wouldn't fit back on unless I made some more clearance in it to allow a bit more room for the new rings. A few minutes with a file solved this but it was just another thing about installing these that didn't go as easy as I had hoped. All in all, the installation took a good 6 hours, I was expecting maybe an hour or two. It was kind of like remodeling an old house, unexpected difficulties around every turn. After the rather painful installation was finished I have to say, I am thrilled with the new sounds I am getting. The tiny switches are very easy to use and seem very quiet. One of my favorite settings is all 4 coils in parallel. I also love being able to compare the sounds of the screw coil to the slug coil to both coils in parallel. I couldn't have done this mod at all using push pull pots because of the 2 wire leads on my guitar. I don't recommend using stock Gibson pickups to do this mod but if you have 4 wire pickups, it should be a lot easier to do. Even my band members are commenting on some of the great new tones I am getting. The reason I am giving 4 stars is primarily due to the final result -- amazing new tones. These rings have turned my already great sounding guitar into a flat out tone monster.

    waste of money...

Comments about Seymour Duncan TS-2s Triple Shot Carved Top Pickup Mounting Ring Set:

They are 1/8" shorter than stock les paul mounting rings (at least on mine). They don't give me enough sound variation to replace the 50 bucks in my wallet as a good purchase. They are easier to wire up and use but just not worth the money.
