I installed this in the bridge position of my epi les paul and paired it with a 59' model in the neck for versitility.I used dimarzio pots and mylar capacitors(.02 for the 59'doing this will make the 59' a little bit brighter and .047 for the sh-6)now I am able to get a very wide range of tones from jazz blues rock metal and beyond I can even get a vintage telecaster and strat like tone.Try this combo you wont be disappointed if versatility is what you seek.

Not a horrible sound. If you are upgrading from something out of a mid-high end guitar I wouldn't recommend it. The distorion on it has kind of a edgy rasp to it. I have it in the bridge position. Good for low chugs, bad for leads. My stock pickup in my Warlock NJ sounded better. Sorry for the negative review, I just don't see how it's 5 stars across the board. I mean 5 stars would be like duncan blackouts or invaders. 3 stars for this item.

bad cust service.

Comments about Seymour Duncan SH-6 Distortion Humbucker Pickup:

The PU is fine now. I had to modify it to make it work after being told i was lying by the cust service rep. I will probably never buy anything from guitar center again. Feel free to follow up if you want more details.

if ya can't stand the heat....

By

Comments about Seymour Duncan SH-6 Distortion Humbucker Pickup:

I swapped out the stock bridge pickup in my Ibanez ART100 for one of these, and I gotta give props to Seymour Duncan! I needed a pickup that really grabs pinch harmonics. I've heard/read alot of great things about this pickup and its all true. It pairs well with tubes amps mahogany bodies, boosting its natural sustain and adding more balls and bite to my tone. Rolling the volume back a little helps take the edge off for cleans if its a major concern to you. Now I can't wait to drop a '59 in the neck.

Great pickup!

Comments about Seymour Duncan SH-6 Distortion Humbucker Pickup:

I got the pickup for my bridge position of my Epiphone Les Paul and all I can say is wow. This pickup is awesome for anything from rock to death metal. It is extremely versatile, but I would not suggest it for anything less than texas blues. It has a lot of bite that can't truely be controlled with the volume or tone knob.

great passive PU

By

from northglenn colorado

Comments about Seymour Duncan SH-6 Distortion Humbucker Pickup:

ive had this pickup for about a month now and its really great for what i play. its got a nice clear distortion sound that i havnt really been able to achieve from other pickups ive tried. it works great for drop tuning (i tune to C#). it doesnt get muddy with low tunings and holds up very well in high gain/high volume situations. its very powerful, but also has a nice clean sound. although it is ideal for more agressive styles the clean channel shines with this thing. i put the duncan distortion in my Epi Goth explorer (epiphone can make a great guitar, but their pickups are a no-go for me) and now i can really make this axe scream. harmonics sound great and it has the right amout of treble, mid-rangs, and bass. it has a great thick metal sound. i love it and at the price you cant go wrong.

Seymour Duncan SH-6

By

from El Dorado Hills

Comments about Seymour Duncan SH-6 Distortion Humbucker Pickup:

Blows me away! The power that is put into this thing can crush anyone in the crowd or in the car with the cd player cranked! The ceramic magnets utilize the tone, versatility, and gain that comes from the pickup. It isn't great for clean, because the ceramic pickups put power and sometimes can put it in your clean setting, but when you crank the gain up you really can do massive solos and clear articulate riffs that have high ends, but also can be tamed in the mid-range. Overall this pickup is great for rock to metal and it packs a lot of punch into your guitar.

Good pickup

By

from MS

Comments about Seymour Duncan SH-6 Distortion Humbucker Pickup:

I replaced the pickup in my Gibson SG with the SH-6. It's a lot brighter than the stock SG pickups, it sounds very good. A lot less muddy than the stock gibson pickups. It's very bright, more high end than low end. Everything I read said it would be like this, I wish I would have gone w/ the SD Invader for what I play. But the reviews and SD website are exactly as described, Very bright high end distortion sound. Definately would recommend as an upgrade to factory pickups.

Great Pickup

By

Comments about Seymour Duncan SH-6 Distortion Humbucker Pickup:

I replaced my single coil bridge pickup in my Jimmy Vaughan Strat with the SH-6 & it sounds great. It's very close to the sound of the Duncan Super Distortion I put in my Les Paul back in the 80's. I highly recommend this pickup.

Blown Away

By

from Charlotte NC

Comments about Seymour Duncan SH-6 Distortion Humbucker Pickup:

I love everything about the SH6. I get all the tones i can imagine from a clean warm blues tound to the screaming harmonics of modern rock and metal. i installed the SH6 on my old strat in the bridge position and 2 texas specials in the neck and middle. Its the greatest variety I've ever heard. A strat a heavy metal guitar? who would have thought it. The SH6 by far my favorite new toy. Thanks Guitar Center.
