Overview

The Seymour Duncan SH-2N Jazz Model Pickup is suitable for musicians who need an accurate, clear tone for fast jazz runs. The brighter sound has slightly less output and is a good match with most pickups. A popular combination is The Jazz Model in the neck with either a JB (SH-4) or Duncan Custom (SH-5) in the bridge.

I put the sh-2 in my 1992 Les Paul and it has the warmest tone. Great on my jazz scales and very clean warm tone. I put the sh-4 jb on my bridge and they smoke together. They are bright loud pickups. If you have a Les Paul I would highly recommend them. I put new Gold covers on so they still look stock, and glad i did. All the other bands wonder why my rig is so hot.

I put this pickup in my 2004 Gibson Les Paul at the neck position. It was quite possibly the worst squire-strat-single coil bridge-sound ive ever heard come from a les paul. it was a disappointment. Maybe mine was defective, but i'm just going with a different pickup now to be safe. This isn't as great as everyone says.

Comments about Seymour Duncan SH-2N Jazz Model Pickup:

Very bright tones, clean sounds, Jazzy sounding pickup. Exactly what I expected.

Perfect for my practicing since I can hear all the notes very clearly and know where I / if I made a mistake. For playing music it was awesome, works great w/ distortion as well, beautiful sounds.

I just didn't like that it has "Seymor Duncan" written on it: I don't like to advertise for brands and I dont need other to see I use this or that particular brand. Brands don't represent me.

My Schecter Solo II is awesome. Came in in like 3 days, properly packaged and ready to go. Prices are lower or the same as most websites you're going to find and the selection is pretty solid. If you want to shop with little-to-no hassle, Musician's Friend is a good spot.

Installed the SH-2N neck and SH-4 bridge on my SG last year. My other guitars have been collecting dust since. Seymour Duncan himself said this was his favorite pick up combo, and I quickly learned why. You literally can't find a sound you're NOT happy with....brilliant!

Comments about Seymour Duncan SH-2N Jazz Model Pickup:

Used once in a set with the JB. The JB was alright. The Jazz was horrible. For a supposed legendary pickup that seems to be very popular it sure doesn't sound good. Of course these reviews are personal opinions. I try a lot of pickups from every brand I can. There are some pickups that I just do not like. This is one of them. The DiMarzio Gravity Storm was about the same for me as this as far as how much I liked them. Horrible. I can't even hardly put my finger on it. The Jazz was muddy, very unclear and had no nice distinguishing characteristics.I don't play jazz so the tones I'm after are probably not what his pickup was made for so maybe thats the problem. Bottom line is, this is one of the worst pickups Ive ever used.

Comments about Seymour Duncan SH-2N Jazz Model Pickup:

Based on the description, I thought this pickup might be too bright, but it is actually quite mellow in my guitar. I got the one with the cover; I don't know how that would compare to an uncovered one. It sounds very much like the Duncan Seth Lover pickup, but with wax potting to smooth out the honk, and a bit more definition from the Alnico 5 magnets (vs the Alnico 2's in the Seth Lover).

Comments about Seymour Duncan SH-2N Jazz Model Pickup:

I swapped out the ESP stock neck pickup for one on my EX-250, and all I have to say is, "WOW!!!!!" It has the perfect tone that I was looking for. Since then, I have installed it in my Ibanez, and soon into my own custom guitar project. I have this paired with the SH4 in the bridge position, and I can easily see why this combo really makes it. If you want an extremely versatile high output pickup without having to deal with the active pickups and all the 9-volt batteries, I would HIGHLY suggest getting this baby.

Comments about Seymour Duncan SH-2N Jazz Model Pickup:

This pickup is awesome! This is the third guitar I've installed it into. Compared to the typical '59 neck that most Seymour Duncan-equipped guitars come with, the sound is more scooped (a bit less mid range) but brighter and bassier. It can do everything the '59 neck can do and Les Paul neck pickups can do, but it does them sounding a bit more modern. The four conductor wiring allows you to do some "tricks" with it, also. I don't recommend using this pickup in split mode (the output is too low) but in parallel and with a four-conductor bridge pickup, it does a great job. I put this one in my Fender Showmaster and it sounds absolutely fantastic!

Not just for Jazz. Great tones for all types of music. Rock, Blues, Country. I replaced a BB1 with this pickup and haven't looked back. The BB1 is great but for my application this pickup is super. Buy it. All the sweet neck tone you want.
