Comments about Seymour Duncan SH-1 1959 Model Electric Guitar Pickup:

I put this in the neck position of a cheapie Samick Ultramatic 3. I previously replaced the bridge pickup with a DiMarzio Tone Zone. This is a GREAT combo! I can get a nice variety of tones just with the 3-way switch. Great for classic rock, metal, blues, jazz, even cleans sound awesome. Both pickups are VERY sensitive to height, so you have to experiment to see what sounds best.

        Really good neck pickup!!!

Comments about Seymour Duncan SH-1 1959 Model Electric Guitar Pickup:

I got this neck pickup for my Dean Dimebag signature Black bolt ML and it just works perfectly with it. Especially with my Bill Lawrence L500XL in the bridge together are amazing tones and it gives you just right amount of warmth and chunkyness. Its a really clean tone and is just one of the best neck pickups you can have!!! Its very reliable really good quality and has a good feel to it.

Comments about Seymour Duncan SH-1 1959 Model Electric Guitar Pickup:

This is a very nice pickup used in conjunction with the Seymour Duncan Phat Cat. Side by side with a '57 humbucker, I really enjoy the bite of the '57 better. It's just personal, the quality is stellar. I play classic rock from the 60s, 70s, and a little from the early 80s. I believe I will try the '57 when I have some cash. The ES-359 comes with '57s. These humbuckers are a very nice rock pickup, exceptionally well balanced, and can handle almost anything you throw at it. It is advisable to listen to your pickup BEFORE you make the purchase.

        Excellent Pickup

        By Alex

Comments about Seymour Duncan SH-1 1959 Model Electric Guitar Pickup:

I just replace my EMG̴s 81 and 60 Pickups for a SD Distortion and one of this on the neck, and all I can say is WOOOOW! Perfect tone and sound, after hearing these I realice why so many people are throwing away their same tone on any guitar EMG Carefull!!!!, this pickup is a Single Conductor, if you want to have a push/pull pickup get the 4 Conductor one If you dont care about push/pull then this is the one for you besides it̴s easier to install!!!

        Gibson SG with 59s

        By Christian

        from San Juan Capistrano, CA

Comments about Seymour Duncan SH-1 1959 Model Electric Guitar Pickup:

I have a 1994 Gibson SG that came with the 490R & T pickups. In 2000, I replaced the bridge with a gibson "TI" signature pickup and replaced the neck with a Seymour 59. The idea being that after some actual play time, I would one day commit to running the matching pickup in either the bridge or neck. Well I ended up replacing the Gibson "TI" signature bridge pickup with the Seymour 59 bridge for several reasons. All I can say now is wow! Fatter high-ends, warmer mids and just overall more versatile tones. Not to mention the 59 Zebras look awesome in my black SG standard. Great Pickups.

        This thing ROCKS!!!

        By Avery Holt

        from Lake St. Louis, Missouri

Comments about Seymour Duncan SH-1 1959 Model Electric Guitar Pickup:

I just installed this pickup on my Epiphone Les Paul, and I am utterly speechless on the improvement it has made. I play with a Fender Blues Jr. and i have never heard it so crunchy just with the natural tube overdrive than I have heard it with this pickup!!! From screaming highs, so bluesy lows, this thing can do it all!!! You will not be disappointed with this pickup!!! Mad props to Seymour Duncan!!!

do what gibson 490's could not

        By Scott

        from philly

Comments about Seymour Duncan SH-1 1959 Model Electric Guitar Pickup:

I have a nice little gibson les paul special plus. I really like the guitar but the pickups were always its pitfall. So after a little research I decided to throw these pickups in and hope for the best. It worked out. The pickups have the nice warm vintage tone I was looking for and I was not forced to pay a ton for the gibson 57's. Glad I went with these.

Great neck pickup for the money

        By TullSkull11

        from West Sacramento

Comments about Seymour Duncan SH-1 1959 Model Electric Guitar Pickup:

I just installed this pickup along with the SH-4 JB for the bridge. I'm playing an Epiphone G-400 1966 reissue, and man oh man. The difference is astonishing compared to the factory Alnico II classics that came with the guitar. I was yelling with joy like Dr. Frankenstein--"It's alive!, it's alive!". This pickup is outstanding at the neck position. And for the money, you can't beat the price. I read from other sources that this pickup works especially well with a solid mahogany body and rosewood fretboard. Apparently, these other sources aren't lying. One word of caution: if you're playing through loud amp (around 50 to 100 watts), these pickups are way more responsive. And if you install them yourself like I did, you will have to make small adjustments over a couple of days to set them to your standards. Be prepared to have fun!
