Overview

Originally designed as a recreation of the pickups in the '59 Les Paul Standard that defined the raw, rebellious sound of Texas blues-rock, the Pearly Gates is sweet, but slightly rude, with great sustain and a bright top end that make harmonics jump out of the guitar. Comes with four-conductor hookup cable. For brighter toned instruments, it works especially well with maple and ebony fingerboards. Also works great with hollow and semi-hollow body guitars.

This Pearly Gates Sets make it easier than ever to grab yourself a slice of that famous Texas Tone. While the starting point for the Pearly Gates was a vintage PAF from one of the most famous (and most expensive) guitars to come out of Texas, it adds a bump in the output and high end, making this set perfect for harder blues and classic rock styles.

Comments about Seymour Duncan Pearly Gates Humbucker Pickup Set:

Great buy. Easy install with basic skills and easy to follow instructions. Installed in my 1996 Epiphone Les Paul Plus Top which I bought new at Guitar Center with the intent to upgrade... Sounded pretty good stock. These pups made it great. I'm a big Billy Gibbons fan and these pups deliver the midrange growl. They're not super high power so they clean up nice with volume/tone adjust - without getting muddy. Next upgrade is a complete 50's re-wire kit. Even with the stock mini pots and caps the sound is amazingly improved. Way more defined notes with cool overtones. Great for the Tejas Blues Thang, Rock, and even Jazz or Country. No hassle online purchase and shipment was as promised. My Amps - Vox Valvetronic - practice - Fender Hot Rod Deluxe - gigs.

replaced the dull pickups in my black top Fender strat. the 4 color coding between old & new pickups did not match so after failed attempt to wire. to to repair man. these pickups have brought this guitar to life. the fidelity in amazing compared to before. Hard to leave it at home. The coil tapping options sound more straty now.VERY HAPPY

Better than the Stock Pick-ups in a Vintage Guitar

Comments about Seymour Duncan Pearly Gates Humbucker Pickup Set:

I replaced the pick-ups on my Dean Z Hollywood after one of the pick-ups got bashed in. The stock pick-ups looked liked to be an unmarked Dimarzio which dated back to the early 80's when the guitar was built (Dimarzio is the supposed pick-up of choice in the guitar). I was really concerned that the replacements available wouldn't give it that vintage hard rock sound that the guitar had with the stocks, but I was wrong; while they sure weren't cheap, the replacements ended up being way better than the originals.

There has been a noticeable increase in the the mids vs the stock pick-ups giving the overall sound profile a bit more of the blues to southern rock vibe, but by no means does this detract from the ability to multi-task across a wide range of styles. In fact, compared to the original pick-ups, these seem to be more tonally pleasing with its versatility as the stock pick-ups really sang with hard distortion but felt a bit dull and flat with some styles. I found that the Pearly Gates have a very rich vintage hard rock tone (richer than the stock, albeit slightly less output) that can really go from a nice hard crunch to smooth blues with a few quick adjustments on the amp and then cleans up like its going to church on Sunday.
